5 Alternative Doctors Dead, 5 More Vanished in Less Than a Month

Coincidence no longer seems realistic as reports of yet another suspicious death of an alternative health doctor bring the alarming total to five—and that doesn’t include another five doctors who seem to have vanished into thin air. Every one of these mysterious deaths and unexplained disappearances have occurred in less than one month under mysterious circumstances that have left the alternative health community desperate for answers.

On June 19, a fisherman discovered a body in the Rocky Broad River in Chimney Rock, North Carolina with what the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Dept. described as a “self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.” It wasn’t until June 23 that Dr. James Bradstreet was conclusively identified. He had been a prominent autism researcher who investigated a possible link between vaccines and autism, which led to a conflict with the Centers for Disease Control. Two items of note in this case are the questionable determination that his death was self-inflicted and the unknown reason for an FDA raid of his clinic in Georgia just prior to his death. Investigation is ongoing.

On the same day, three doctors and a lawyer in Mexico were traveling to the capital city of the southern state of Guerrero, but disappeared en route. Prosecutors claimed they had discovered and positively identified the bodies eleven days later, but family members insist the government has bungled the case and might be involved in a cover-up. Guerrero has the highest murder rate in the country and is also where 43 student teachers disappeared last fall. The government remains steadfast in the identification of the bodies, but Rigoberto Hernandez—the father of one of the missing doctors, who visited the morgue—disputes this claim.  After his trip to the morgue, Hernandez told the Daily Beast, “It wasn’t him. I raised him from a baby so I ought to know.” Controversy still surrounds these disappearances.

June 21 brought news that two chiropractors—both located on Florida’s eastern coast and both described as being fit and in perfect health—were found dead, though cause of death in both cases remains undisclosed. Dr. Bruce Hedendal—described as “a gifted and compassionate healer [and] a visionary” in his obituary—was found inexplicably slumped over in his car. He had a radio show on anti-aging and was expected to live many years past the average age of death. Dr. Baron Holt died unexpectedly on the same day as Dr. Hedendal, and his death was equally shocking to family members, who stated that none of his recent health issues were “thought to be life threatening.”

Dr. Teresa Sievers was found murdered in her Florida home on June 29. Details haven’t yet been released and the investigation is ongoing, but various neighbors reported hearing a “shrill” sound and a man’s voice. Dr. Sievers was known as the “Mother Teresa of South Florida” and was a beloved member of the holistic health community. According to a report, police caution tape remained around the perimeter of her home 48 hours after her body was found. She had returned alone the previous day after departing early from a family vacation. The same day Dr. Sievers’ body was discovered in Florida, Dr. Jeffrey Whiteside inexplicably walked away from his boat slip and family in Ephraim in northern Door County, Wisconsin. Neither his family nor his office have heard from him since. A volunteer search party was unsuccessful and his whereabouts remain a mystery.

Dr. Patrick J. Fitzpatrick of Bismark, North Dakota disappeared on July 3rd or 4th after abandoning his vehicle and trailer next to a pea field near Three Forks, Montana. Little is known about the 74-year-old doctor, except his distinguishing Irish accent. Authorities performed an extensive search but say he seems to have vanished into thin air.

The latest in this eerie series of unexplained incidents happened on the morning of July 10. Dr. Lisa Riley wasfound dead in her Lee County, Georgia home of a gunshot to the head by her husband. Though the manner of her death isn’t yet known, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation performed an autopsy and spent the entire weekend collecting evidence in her home. Her husband was arrested by authorities on an unrelated matter, but a small child in the home was consequently taken into custody by DFACS. That investigation is ongoing.

All ten of these doctors seem to share just two things in common: the focus on alternative medicine and circumstances that baffle the authorities and their families. Hopefully sooner rather than later, the truth will surface. It’s been said there is no such thing as coincidence—and it’s doubtful these cases will prove that untrue.
