The Anoncast – Episode 13 – Jacque Fresco and Roxanne Meadows of The Venus Project

19

On this week’s episode of The Anoncast, Alek had a unique opportunity to sit down with Jacque Fresco and Roxanne Meadows, the founders of The Venus Project.

The Venus Project proposes an alternative vision of what the future can be if we apply what we already know, in order to achieve a sustainable new world civilization. It calls for a straightforward redesign of our culture in which the age-old inadequacies of war, poverty, hunger, debt and unnecessary human suffering are viewed not only as avoidable, but as totally unacceptable. Anything less will result in a continuation of the same catalog of problems inherent in today’s world.

The plans of The Venus Project offer society a broader spectrum of choices based on the scientific possibilities directed toward a new era of peace and sustainability for all. Through the implementation of a global Resourced Based Economy, and a multitude of innovative and environmentally friendly technologies directly applied to the social system, The Venus Project proposals will dramatically reduce crime, poverty, hunger, homelessness, and many other pressing problems that are common throughout the world today.

One of the cornerstones of the organization’s findings is the fact that many of the dysfunctional behaviors of today’s society stem directly from the dehumanizing environment of a monetary system. In addition, automation has resulted in the technological replacement of human labor by machines, and eventually most people will not have the purchasing power to buy the goods and services turned out.

The Venus Project proposes a system in which automation and technology would be intelligently integrated into an overall holistic socio-economic design, where the primary function would be to maximize the quality of life rather than profits. This project also introduces a set of workable and practical values.

This is also in perfect accord with the spiritual aspects and ideals found in most religions throughout the world. What sets The Venus Project apart, however, is that it proposes to translate these ideals into a working reality.

Jacque and Roxanne founded the Venus Project at TVP Research Center in Venus, Florida, where they both work and reside.

      • pure intent is always rewarded as long as your will holds it ground.
        as Nikola Tesla said:

“The scientific man does not aim at an immediate result, he does not expect that his advances ideas will be readily taken up, his duty is to lay the foundation for those who are to come and point the way.”

  1. The resources should be available for all the people not for some f@@ing corporations!
And no money(bulls@@t produced by a bank which can buy everything only with paper and paint) and this thing could the end of modern slavery!

  2. A load of idealistic bollocks. The proposal doesn’t solve the core problem (human personality deficiencies), it just displaces it. So instead of corrupt government we’ll have corrupt maintenance. Power structures are still in place.

    • Human personality is amply shaped by environment. Corrupt or aberrant behavior is not something that is hardwired in the DNA of humans, they are pushed towards being corrupt by the world around them. “Human Nature” is just a way for ill-informed people to account for someone’s actions. In reality there’s only “Human Behavior” that is developed and influenced based on the surroundings that it’s bred in.

  3. I think this is a grea idea. No countries, atleast minimum health and food for everyone, and the fich can get whTever luxeries they want. Everyone just together.

  4. Didn’t the Russians have the same idea in their communism? The main difference here is that the “government” is replaced by a computer. Regarding that, someone has to program that computer so that it can make priorities. And then that person has to be true of heart.

Aside that, f.e. in times of hunger: how can a computer choose who deserves food and who has to starve for the future of humanity? Due to a lack of empathy the computer can choose to let a man of 50 years, who had a chance to live, survive while a child dies, because at that moment the man is more “functional&productive”

    • The main difference between The Venus Project and communism is the government and the police. In Russia, they killed people for being against the government, and sadly turned out really bad. The good thing with computers, is that they do not have ambitions or feelings, (unless you program it to have something like it). But the future “government” will not decide over the humans, it will only help us to arrive at decisions (just to put that out there) 🙂

In the future, there will not be any hunger, since there are enough resources to feed every person on the planet. But your question are about who the computer decides who to live, and who to not. This computer only helps us arrive at decisions. Everything in this society will be so much tested and secured that there will not be any accidents. If there still will be cars, they will be automated, and all transport systems will also be automated. Taking this to consideration, there will very rarely be any accidents, but when there first are one, there will be a very good health care that will take care for these people that needs it.

That’s all i know, but i recommend looking at the FAQ for The Venus Project: http://www.thevenusproject.com/faq/

  5. Just LISTEN to the f*ing thing. It has nothing to do with communism or other established ideologies. It is bakunin meets foucault meets feldenkrais, if anything. Don’t dismiss every original and creative thougth just it is a) not indoctirnated and b) not your own. Neither envy nor a priori pessimism are of any use today. It’s just poor lazy thinking. If i had any money, i definitely would invest in this.

  6. P.S.: I just am of different opinion in one aspect: i think lawyers will be more important than ever (at least in the forming phase) – binding contracts of contribution between individuals and community are just the best way to facilitate the transition from the monetary system… imho.

  7. we’ve been conditioned over centuries to be the way we are, meaning the only solution is to condition ourselves to be better, yes it will take a while, and yes there will be resistance, but what other way is there, our minds are designed to be conditioned, if you act a certain way long enough it becomes second nature. so that being said, we only grow in the presence of stressors in the form of growing pains when trying to change, when we hit resistance we either fight or flight, and only when we “fight” can we learn and grow. the human brain is week and always finds the easy way out, meaning only when it is difficult and feels like its impossible you must persevere in order to achieve greatness.

  8. So what would these guys do with everyone’s property to begin with? And how would technology advance without anyone making new stuff? No Apple, PlayStation, Wholefoods, trainers etc? Maybe I’m missing something, please explain what’s so good about this.

    • This planet does not belong to some more than others. People don’t really need to own property, they need access to their needs. Romantic ideas of possession of a certain thing are irrational.

When it comes to things like game consoles the idea is that there will be a library where you can get it when you want it and have it for the time you want it there really isn’t going to be necessity to worry about scarcity of it
