Despite the fact that one can get their daily recommendation of calcium, potassium, and protein from fruits and vegetables, the dairy industry has spent billions of dollars to convince consumers otherwise.

Got Milk? We sure hope not. Despite being a somewhat tasty addition to coffee, tea, and delectable treats, the ingredient – when pasteurized – is highly toxic to the human body. In fact, physicians such as Dr. Willet, who has conducted many studies and reviewed the research on the topic, believe milk to be more of a detriment to the human body than an aid.

This is because despite popular belief, the food has never been shown to reduce fracture risk. In fact, according to the Nurses’ Health Study, dairy may increase risk of fractures by 50%! This concerning finding is supported by the fact that countries with lowest rates of dairy and calcium consumption (like those in Africa and Asia) have the lowest rates of osteoporosis.

Considering that approximately 3/4 of the world’s population is unable to digest milk and other dairy products, it seems clear the food is not an ideal substance for consumption. However, the average consumer doesn’t know this. From celebrity endorsements to advertisements by the dairy industry, most have been taught to believe that dairy is an ideal food for optimum health.

Because there’s so much misinformation surrounding the subject, Vox recently created a video which illustrates the facade of the dairy industry. One of the points made is that despite the fact that consumers can get the daily recommendation of calcium, potassium, and protein from fruits and vegetables, the dairy industry has spent billions of dollars to convince the populace otherwise.

If you were taught that one must drink milk to grow up “big and strong,” you’re not alone. However, now is the time to get educated on the facts.

Because milk is very mucus-forming in the human body, it is believed to contribute to allergies, ear infections, Type 1 diabetes, anemia, and even constipation. In addition, the food may contribute to various types of cancers as consumption of the product increases the body’s level of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1).

The good news is that there are plenty of tasty, creamy dairy alternatives that are not only easy-to-make, they’re affordable. ‘Milks’ from rice, almonds, cashew, hemp, and even coconut can be found in most grocery stores, and some companies even sell dairy-free ice cream – such as Ben & Jerry’s! In fact, the non-dairy milk market has surged within the past few years. Almond milk sales, in particular, have increased by 250 percent from 2000-2o15 to almost $895 million.

  1. i broke my neck but had full function after 6 months or so and had an absolute craving for milk, and drank about 5 liters a day for a few months before the craving slowed up and went away….guess it was the body repairing itself with strengthens bone growth around the damage eh…who knows, but the thing is…..it was milk i needed evidently…..strange eh…
    just saying

  2. I have known this for a long time. Since I stopped using milk products and sugar I don’t have that much mucus and slimy nose anymore. Please stop using all types of sugar, brown , white, syrups and even honey also cut dairy products from your diet and see the changes in your health after some time.

      • Your body does not run on sugar … It gains its energy from a mixture of nutrients mainly carbohydrates which contains natural sugars …. This guy is talking about refind added sugars … White poison….Totally different thing

  3. Bodybuilders believe milk increase Estrogen in the humanbody, based on some bodybuilders claiming milk increase bloat ( water retention in the skin)

If animals can uptake growth factors through milk, we can too.

  4. The human being is the only mammal that keeps drinking milk all its life. It is wrong according to the rules of Nature.

  5. I understand industries’ evil intentions, it’s normal in this day and age… But Amanda Froelich, have you ever read any text regarding milk from ancient Vedic texts? I mean it’s hundreds of years of experiencie from the society who was practicing brain surgery quite some centuries ago. Of course pasteurized milk is bad but to say milk per is detrimental for health is simply and uninformed declaration, sorry

    • She isn’t saying it’s ‘detrimental’. All she is saying is that it’s made to sound like it’s ‘essential’ as part of our daily meal. I think the point here is to know the other side of whatever has been told to us all these years, ask why? and find out out possible answers to it, rather than agreeing to something blindly.

  6. I drink milk everyday, have my whole life, love the stuff!. So if it’s bad for me, so what, atleast I’ll die of my own choices. Besides, I’ve Tryed almond milk and it tastes horrible, worst tasting shit ever, totally ruined my ceral!. I have always had a healthy digestive system, with a regular twice a day bowel movements. I don’t have a stopped up nose or excess mucus as this link suggest. Stop trying to steal ReAL milks thunder “Fake Milk Corporations”! Lol.? what a joke

    • You could tell me you smoked 20 cigarettes a day until you were 80, it wouldn’t magically make cigarettes good for you. Unfortunately, “your own choice” impacts the animals abused in the industry, so it goes far deeper than “I like the taste, I’m going to keep doing it”.

  7. Baffles me that so many people have been conned into thinking that milk is genuinely the only source of calcium you can get. Like how people think vegetarians/vegans can’t get protein, but apparently it only exists in animal meat. Astounding.

    • Or we can’t get essential amino acids unless we eat meat ….. So pleased Ive taken the time to become knowledgable about the food I do and don’t eat , if others did I’d bet my life on it they wouldn’t eat animal products

  8. Unable to ingest milk because body lacks lactase. Body lacks lactase because not exposed to lactose often enough. In other words, 3/4 of the world’s population does not have access to milk.

  9. Okay, I might believe this. I need an academic journal article that has been peer reviewed to convince me. However, having something be detrimental has never meant humans will not consume. This isn’t alcohol or tobacco. It is no where near that class of danger to drink milk. I understand lactose intolerance, and also understand that ice cream, or milk and cookies is right up there with sex and sunsets as what makes this trip we call life worth it. So, I’ll probably still eat them. Maybe not as much.

  10. Do we really want to promote almond milk ? Seriously, 80% of the almonds come from California, where drought conditions persist, and it takes 1.1 gallons of water to grow one almond.

These almonds travel thousands of miles to processing plants only to be added to vast amounts of water, thickening agents and vitamin D, resulting in a 2 litre product that has the nutritional value of three almonds (according to CBC’s Marketplace).

I don’t drink milk as often as recommended but my milk comes from my own area code so it’s also less traveled, as is my cheese and ice cream. Eating local causes less fuel to be used.

Soy milk is a better alternative to almond because soy is grown in my area code. But it is shipped off thousands of miles away, made into milk, and shipped thousands of miles back to me. I’m going to be sticking to water, tea and the very little milk I consume now.

    • Anonymous… a delicate mix of activism.. and ignorance.. and getting triggered by conspiracies, not matter how bat shit crazy they are.

As for soy milk.. unfermented soy products can cause cancer even in children.

Also.. rebroadcasting “VOX” of all fucking insane, uneducated news sources. When did “anonymous” become so fucking idiotic

  11. If humans were indigenously supposed to consume milk long after birth, could you imagine our great ancestors from centuries ago chasing the Bison just so they could jump underneath and suck on it tits!
