Massive Explosion Rocks Ukraine: Chemical Factory, or Nuke?

In the Ukraine, a massive explosion rocked the city of Donetsk as the military apparently struck a chemical plant. A Ukrainian MP, Boris Filatov, was quick to praise the soldiers for hitting a target, but apparently did not know nor much care for what he had actually hit (yup, clearly he cares about civilians living in the East). The former deputy head of the industrial Dnepropetrovsk Region and member of the Ukrainian parliament, Verkhovna Rada, said on his Facebook page that they, “don’t know what they hit.” This case of the head not knowing (or caring) what the hand is doing, highlights the indiscriminate nature of the bombing campaign championed by Kiev and its intention to completely annihilate any form of resistance from even civilians in the east.

Video of the explosion shows a mushroom cloud and a blinding flash of light. There is some speculation that it was, in fact, a small nuclear explosion due to these characteristics, though other reports state that it was a simple explosion resulting from ignition of ammunition being produced at the factory, which seems more plausible but for the sheer magnitude of the explosion. I would not speculate on the nature of the kind of shell that had caused the massive explosion, though I would love to seize this opportunity to go through Kiev’s love-affair with banned weapons, such as cluster bombs and white phosphorous.

Even staunch ally, John McCain, admits that Kiev was using cluster bombs, a weapon banned by the 2008 convention against cluster munitions.  It seems, however, that he believes that if America had sent EVEN MORE conventional arms, they would not have had to use it. Cluster bombs are indiscriminate, sending bomblets into nearby homes. Further, when the bomblets fail, they remain lethal and may detonate later when civilians pick them up, long after the conflict had ended. Human Rights Watch had blamed Kiev for not bothering to investigate the use of the banned weapon, but Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk responded by claiming, “there is no evidence of that.” Better tell John that, Arseny.

As reported by the Daily Mail, among many other media outlets, the Ukrainian army had also used white phosphorous a while back – a weapon banned by the Geneva Convention. You can clearly tell by the luminescent appearance of the substance raining down in the Daily Mail video that it is in fact white phosphorous. Why the Daily Mail seems to think that this is only an allegation is beyond me. White Phosphorous, or WP bombs, are named for their main payload, white phosphorous.   When exposed to air, this incendiary chemical immediately combusts and cannot be put out by water. It also adheres to the skin. People afflicted by it are forced to watch their flesh melt away.

And then we have a final word from the spokesman for Kiev’s Anti-Terrorist Operation, despite what his peer had said earlier:

“This was caused by a dropped cigarette butt,” Andrey Lysenko told the media on Monday.

“Accidents often happen in factories where no one is responsible for fire safety. Well, it’s chaos, and they are barbarians.”

Yeah, a lit cigarette caused an explosion that was so potent that it could be felt for miles around. And the usual demonize-your-foe propaganda, calling your own citizens in the East ‘barbarians’… it REALLY feels like they want to ‘save’ all those civilians now…

  1. That is not a nuclear explosion. It’s more of a fuel rich explosion. The smaller explosions before it were most likely used as an igniter. Doesn’t seem like an accident but surely not a nuke.

    • Well, there was almost an identical explosion not too long ago. Looked exactly the same. That time they tried to say it was a comet or something

  2. It might well just be artillery, but, then again, it’s not impossible that one of those old Russian suitcase bombs found its way into a weapons facility… Imagine one of those suffering a hit from artillery. Big badda boom.

  3. A cop mollested a 14 yearold gir in craig county. Please investigate and report. I have personelly had negative accounts including planted evidence. HiS victims range between several sex crimes, assault also do a follow up on the name floyd you will see a pattern. Craig county oklahoma

For the cause please do not respond

  4. big explosion yes, but not a nuke. A nuke makes a very identifiable sound when the sound is not dubbed over as most of the released videos are. I’d assume whoever posted this did not dub over the sound.

  5. Big explosion yes, but not a nuke. A nuke makes a very identifiable sound, when it is not dubbed over as most of the declassified videos are. Assuming this video is not dubbed over.

  6. Sorry, but all I see is terrible incidents noone not involved in the conflict witnessed and blind allegations of both sides. Nothing trustworthy as to who might have dropped the phosphor, who used the cluster bombs and who blew that factory up. I know how powerful chemicals can be though so – although very unlikely – the cigarette story can be true. I doubt that someone from Kiev could tell though so it’s probably just nonsense. There is no telling though what actually happened. Could’ve been the Ukrainian government, could’ve been the Red Army, could’ve been separatist, could’ve been IS terrorists, could’ve been Marsians.. Who can really know but the perpetrator from what kind of information we have?

  7. This is one of the “best” uncensored sounds/videos. Notice how you hear that sound as the bomb is neutron flashing (exploding), but the sound of the actual explosion or shock wave does not arrive till 30 seconds after. The phenomenon of that sound before the arrival of the shock wave is still not explained, hence why most videos are dubbed over.

  8. Huge conventional explosion happened at buncefield in the uk. Looked similar caused seismic event that measured 2.4 on richer scale and was heard in france. Not saying this is not a nuke but a conventional explosion can be just as powerful in some situations.

  9. Check out who wrote this post….. A GREAT source to believe to… “Demonizing your foes”? Have you done ANY research about what was happening in Ukraine lately and all of PUTIN’s propaganda?! Also, please talk to experts before you make assumptions about types of explosions.

    • Yes, I am familiar with the Nazi’s in the Ukranian government. Ive seen the goose-stepping and the swastika’s. And like all right wing regimes it will be supported by the US.

  10. Tho the explosion appears to be a tactical “Nuke” explosion. There are several other types of catalyst that can cause the same effect. Due to the growing tension in the Ukraine, and the lack of reports, it is plausible to be accident. But when the Doomsday clock got changed to 3 min. to midnight. I am now concerned that it was a Russian version of a Daisy Cutter Bomb.

  11. A lit cigarette butt certainly could have caused that explosion if it was dropped inside a chemical plant. If you do not understand how, then you are not qualified to write an article about it.

  12. Absolutely love the way of settling things in the east:

60ft up explosion – dropped cigarette butt.
Trained Russian soldiers in Ukraine – just a bunch of military enthusiasts.
Those guys need to get nuked.
