Paris Attacks Mastermind’s Own Family Prayed For His Death

Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the Belgian jihadist behind the Paris attacks, was confirmed dead in a French police raid on November 19. Abaaoud’s father has said he regrets that his ‘devil’ son was not captured alive – Not that he regretted that he couldn’t see his son for the last time, but because he wanted the French authorities to interrogate Abaaoud about the fate of his younger brother – Younes – who was kidnapped by Abdelhamid when he was only 13 and eventually became the “the world’s youngest jihadist”.

As a boy, Abdelhamid went to one of Brussels’ most prestigious high schools, Saint-Pierre d’Uccle. “He was a little jerk,” recalled a former classmate from Brussels who told the Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure, that Abdelhamid used to harass fellow students and teachers and also got into trouble for stealing wallets. Childhood friends say he smoked a lot of cannabis as a teenager and would steal to pay for his addiction. Ultimately, this behavior eventually led to his expulsion from the school.

In 2010, Abdelhamid was jailed for armed robbery, and it was during his time in prison that he became radicalized. Among his friends in prison were Ibrahim and Salah Abdeslam, two brothers who are now at the center of the investigation into the Paris attacks.

According to his family, Abdelhamid traveled to Syria to ISIS in 2014, motivated more by a thirst for power, violence and unaccountability, and not out of any great religious motivation. “He did not even go to the mosque… We are praying that Abdelhamid really is dead,” his older sister, Yasmina, said at the time.

His family did not have any kind words to speak about him, even prior to last week’s attacks. They said that he lived a disturbed childhood that turned into a life of crime, and that he did not fit the stereotypical profile of a jihadist.

In February 2015, he gave an interview to the Islamic State English-language magazine Dabiq, which suggested he was in Syria, and claimed he had traveled to Belgium to “terrorise the crusaders waging war against the Muslims.”

In response to Abdelhamid’s decision to recruit his younger brother, Abdelhamid’s father joined a state prosecutor’s case against his son in May. Omar, who worked in the tough Brussels neighborhood of Molenbeek and now lives in Morocco, said that Abdelhamid’s actions ruined their lives.

“Why in the name of God, would he want to kill innocent Belgians? Our family owes everything to this country. Abdelhamid has brought shame on our family. Our lives have been destroyed. I can’t take it anymore. I am on medication. I don’t ever want to see him again,” said Omar Abaaoud, whose family moved to Belgium 40 years ago from Morocco.

In July, he was sentenced to 20 years in absentia along with 32 other jihadists. The Belgian cell was said to have been planning a major terrorist attack, including abducting and beheading a prominent law enforcement official and posting a video of it online.

  1. May the adults who radicalized these impressionable young people be shot dead in their cells, knifed or however the ones in command see fit. Open warfare please.

  2. The majority of the radicals I have met and spoken with are typically weak minded low IQ individuals or persons recruited in the pre-pubescent age, easily mislead and manipulated. I believe brainwashing techniques are used on these young men. They are sought out and recruited. There are only so many available – It is with sorrow that this will end the same way the Iran-Iraq war ended. It ended with the depletion of 12 and thirteen year olds taken against there will FROM 1989 TO 1988, from the county-side communities in trucks by the thousands,to fight in a war they where ill prepared to fight and didn’t give two shits about. I am sorry for the fate they must undergo. It pains me to think about the perpetrators and victims. I feel sorry for the children being sent to slaughter in the name of allah. “It would be better for them to have a millstone tied around their neck and be drowned” I read that somewhere………… I agree with Michael George Racer JR Van Heel……

    • The Iran–Iraq War was an armed conflict between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq lasting from September 1980 to August 1988, making it the 20th century’s longest conventional war.

Sorry Fat fingered the date above…
