Pentagon Pays Hush Money To Doctors Without Borders Bombing Victims

22 civilians were killed in the attack on a Doctors Without Borders hospital (DWB), the majority of whom were volunteer physicians. The US had at first claimed that the Taliban were hiding out at the hospital, and as we know the only way to save human shields is to MURDER THEM ALL.

Then after the US govt decided that that deceit was lousy PR, they blamed the Afghans for calling the strike. This lie would also fail, when it was revealed that it was the US that had called the strike in.

Out of the fracas, Obama would only then decide to call for a Pentagon investigation into its own atrocities. This was about the closest the US govt had come to admitting guilt- until now.

As DWB’s calls for an independent investigation into what it calls war crimes fall upon deaf ears, the US has decided that it will need a new spin on the whole matter- pretend that bribery and a stunning admission of guilt in the commission of war crimes is actually a humane attempt to help those poor souls who were injured in the tragic accident-that-was-not-a-war-crime.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the US govt will now make “condolence payments” to civilians injured and the family members of those killed in the blast.  Or, hush money, because money makes those dead and crippled people ALL BETTER. The note that accompanies this blood money probably reads:

Dear XXXX,

We apologize for the tragic accident that befell your son/ daughter/ mother/ father/ husband/ wife/ children/ entire family.

Please kindly accept this bundle of cash as repayment for your loss of these poor souls who were caught treating anyone who needed aid. Next time you see a dying Taliban fighter, remember XXXX and deny any aid to our enemies.  It was his/ her own fault for treating them.

P.S. if we hear that you decided to call what we did a war crime, we will come for you.

P.P.S That money was dipped in special tracking ink. Don’t test us.

Kind wishes

US G.

It is unknown as yet just how “generous” the US govt will be in awarding this hush money- one expects that the calculations will be just high enough to allow an Afghan family to survive for a few months. A few thousand USD for a lost limb, 10,000 USD per death is probably how the morbid calculation goes- don’t want to waste too much stolen loot on “collateral damage” and all that. The printing press is overheating as it is.

Also, they have decided to pay for the repairs of the now abandoned DWB hospital. Who exactly will dare to set foot in the New and Improved Target Board is another question entirely; knowing that the DWB hospital was there did not stop them from bombing it the first time, after all.

The US does have a history of knowing where an aid facility is standing and bombing it anyway

Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said in a statement issued Saturday.

“The Department of Defense believes it is important to address the consequences of the tragic incident that the Doctors Without Borders hospital,” Mr. Cook said.

Yes- one MUST SIMPLY remember to keep calling it a tragic incident… rather than admit that it was a war crime… anyway, the best way to redress such things is with hush money!

Unfortunately, silencing DWB’s calls for an independent investigation might be a bit more pricy: DWB is calling upon the International Humanitarian Fact-Finding Commission to head the investigation.

The US govt will find that bribing legal experts, diplomats doctors and former military officials from nine European countries to be slightly more expensive than some poor Afghan family.

    • Oh good lord!!!

For one, “condolence payment’ is kinda what the whole world does!! Stop fucking making it into a sinister gesture. What did Malaysia airlines do?… They fucking paid condolences payments to the families of the victims!!! It’s what people fucking do to at least try to right their wrong (which by the way, this case is still being investigated). Nevertheless, the US is trying to do the right thing. I didn’t see you guys bashing Malaysia airlines for for paying family members for literally losing their families.

And for two,…. I don’t see these families refusing the money either. Hmmmmm.
