It seems like the corruption situation in the United States is becoming apparent to the majority of people around the world, as some have started talking about it publicly.

Critics believe that both the economic and political system of the United States has been taken hostage by the super-rich, known as the 1%. Recently, we published a story about how a new study revealed a staggering 71% of American citizens think their country’s economic and political systems are rigged in favor of the super-rich.

The study conducted by Marketplace and Edison, produced a grim portrait of economic anxiety that is crossing class, race, and political boundaries among citizens of the United States.

However, even before this study was conducted, movie star, Jackie Chan had stated publicly that when it comes to corrupt practices in the world, the United State is second to none. Mr Chan is famous in the United States for movies such as Rush Hour and Rumble in the Bronx. However, despite enjoying good relationship with Hollywood, the martial arts star descended heavily on the system in the United States.

Chan lashed out at the United States, blaming the country for the current economic crisis that is sweeping across the world. Mr Chan reportedly made this criticism against the United States on a Hong Kong television show in 2013.

“If you talk about corruption, the entire world, the United States has no corruption?” Chan asked the host interviewing him. Chan then sharply referred to America as “the most corrupt in the world.”

Mr Chan revealed that in past interviews granted to the American media, he made similar remarks about the country.

“Where does this Great Breakdown (financial crisis) come from? It started exactly from the world, the United States. When I was interviewed in the U.S., people asked me, I said the same thing,” Chan said in the interview.

He shifted his attention from the United States, urging his fellow Chinese to support China in building a strong foundation to exert significant influence in the international arena.

“I said now that China has become strong, everyone is making an issue of China. If our own countrymen don’t support our country, who will support our country? We know our country has many problems. We [can] talk about it when the door is closed. To outsiders, [we should say] our country is the best,” Chan said.

In the past, the American media has labeled Mr Chan as a strong supporter of the ruling Communist Party in China. The Washington Post described Mr Chan as passionately political, a staunch defender of the Chinese Communist Party, and a harsh critic of anyone he considers opposing China’s policies.

Mr Chan has a history of making controversial political statements. Sometime ago, he described the actions of  Taiwan and Hong Kong, who want to break away from China, as enjoying too much freedom. His comment was widely condemned in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

According to the Daily Mail, Chan once also said that the Chinese people need to be controlled, otherwise they will do whatever they want. He reportedly made this statement when he was discussing China’s censorship of his movies.

Mr Chan was born in British Hong Kong on April 7th, 1954. He rose to fame in the movie industry in the 1970s. He has received stars on the Hong Kong Avenue of Stars, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
