Scotland School Stabbing: Aberdeen Teen Stabbed in School Corridor

1

Aberdeen, Scotland – A community is in shock after the death of Bailey Gwynne, 16, a student at Cults Academy who was stabbed in a corridor during the school’s lunch break. Fellow student, Daniel Stroud, has been detained for questioning.

As of now, it is unclear what motivated the attack. The stabbing is reported to have occurred a little after 1:30pm on a walkway between classrooms referred to as “the Street.” A teacher at the school attempted to perform first aid on Gwynne as ambulances arrived, however he later died from his injuries at the Aberdeen Royal infirmary Wednesday afternoon.

According to one of the students who saw Gwynne stagger around a corner, he was bleeding profusely and managed to say “stabbed” before collapsing. A rapid response ambulance, accompanied with five police cars, a dog unit, and riot van, arrived as the teacher was administering first aid to Gwynne.

Gwynne lived in Aberdeen, and was the oldest of five boys (he had four younger siblings). He is described by friends, classmates, and neighbors as having been well-mannered, laid back, and gentle. Cult Academy is situated in an affluent area, and doesn’t have a reputation as a violent school. Aside from comments of previous bullying at the facility, an incident such as this was completely unexpected (as is often the case in school killings). It would seem even in a country that has some of the tightest gun control laws, violence can still find its way into our schools.

The school is closed for the next week to allow an investigation, and to give teachers and students a moment to morn. A memorial has been left outside the school, and counseling has been made available to those who need it. Scotland’s Police Ch. Insp., Graeme Mackie made this statement:

This is a shocking and extraordinary incident for Aberdeen and firstly our thoughts are with the family and friends of the boy who has sadly lost his life today. A full and thorough inquiry has been launched and there will be a police presence in the area for the foreseeable future. We are working closely with the education authorities and wider community as I am sure this incident will be felt not only in Aberdeen but much further afield.”

Those of us at Anonymous Headquarters would like to extend our deepest condolences to Bailey Gwynne’s family, friends, and community.

  1. I hear this kid (the one who was stabbed) bullied the other kid because he was/is overweight… If you bully people… I lose all sympathy… Just how I am.
