Wearing An Anonymous Mask Will Get You Arrested

A protester wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, made popular by the graphic novel "V for Vendetta", takes part in the "Occupy Vienna" protest in downtown Vienna October 15, 2011. Protesters worldwide geared up for a cry of rage on Saturday against bankers, financiers and politicians they accuse of ruining global economies and condemning millions to poverty and hardship through greed. A man in an Anonymous mask, who was sitting peacefully, was harangued by police and arrested. All caught on camera, bystanders recorded the event while a multitude of witnesses yelled out that he did nothing wrong or illegal.

The incident took place in the House Gallery, during the Maricopa County hearing over the suspected election fraud.

Two officers attended the arrest of the man. Although the man in question didn’t have his face concealed by the mask—the mask had been resting on the top of his head—the first arresting officer approached from behind and kicked at him lightly until he left his chair.

Bystanders went to the man’s defense, with several phones filming the event. One bystander even said the arrest was made because the man was sporting an Anonymous mask.

In the video, another bystander accuses the police of choking the man as the officers unduly restrained him while he was quietly sitting between the chairs.

Chants of “shame” and “the whole world is watching” were cried as the man was forced to his feet and escorted away.

Man arrested at Arizona State House for sitting. We went to the meeting on voter suppression at 10:00. It ended at 1:30 so the Arizona House could talk about the dark money bill. We chanted “Revote!!” when we arrived on the gallery. We were told to quiet down. One man was removed. The man in front of me was sitting quietly alone in his seat. He had dreadlocks and a Guy Fawkes mask pushed back on his head. He was given no warning. Part Two: https://www.facebook.com/toomuchsun/posts/10206156817510545?hc_location=ufi

After the removal of the man, one of the bystanders states: “you promised us if we were silent you wouldn’t remove us.” Officials then began to plead with the crowd. At the end of the video, one official agreed that the man with the mask did nothing wrong.

Janet Higgens, who uploaded one of the videos, stated: “We were at the point of chaos. All brought on by the police. For a man sitting quietly. With dreadlocks. His name is Jonathan S. McRae. He is currently in jail, charged with trespassing and resisting arrest. I disagree. He was harassed, held to the floor for over 5 minutes, and kidnapped. I don’t know if he was injured in the attack.

We the people of the United States are tired of this stuff,” another witness yelled as a bystander warned that this would all end up on YouTube.

    • I can’t or won’t hold all police accountable for the actions of a select few.
They are only doing the job they’re being TOLD to do…
So it’s not the police you need to go after, but those creating a system in which this sort of behavior is encouraged, which is most certainly NOT the system that Constitution of the United States was designed to encourage.

Go after your oppressors in the voting box, not the streets.
Fight the real power with quiet protest.
Spread knowledge and awareness to those who have none.
Fight the real fight, not the one your oppressors WANT you to fight.
Behind bars, there’s little you can do.
Your vote is still your power.
Your voice is still your power…

      • “o after your oppressors in the voting box, not the streets.

lets see where this gets you
good luck with trump and all that

      • @John I agree with you on most of that, but its not just the actions of a select few. It’s almost everywhere and every officer abusing their powers and going above and beyond the law.

      • “I was only following orders.” Isn’t that called the “Nuremberg defense?” As I recall, they hung people for that after WW II.

This kind of oppression is going to stop before we have a despot and have to kill ALL of the bastards, good and bad.

        • Bringing up the show trials at Nuremburg(insisted upon by the same Zionist scum that led to Hitlers rise)is perhaps inappropriate here. The same bloodlines of psychopaths continue to pull the strings of the western world today.

      • No this has to go directly to the police! They get paid by the tax payers and need to respect that fact! Police will start to be in grave danger if they persist with these kinds of abuse against the people. That crown of people should have jummped those police and ended it right there and then…send a message that this kind of police brutality will not be tollerated…it only takes one person to change this sitiuation when it happens othets will help it along to a just ending!

      • I only believe partially in what you say. Cops should have a mind of there own. But as usual, no brains they are followers not leaders and this in probably enforced at the recruitment stage. Any normal person would say that it is wrong to do anything to a person that is sitting, minding their own business and not hurting anyone else. But I thing cops have a pack mentallity and are physcopaths. That is why the yar e hired. To be indoctrinated to follow what they are taught. What a crock of shit. They need to get a life and think (this might be hard for most cops. From what I have seen of American cops)
Anyway. Forgive my rant. Keep up the good fight.

      • “Behind bars, there’s little you can do.”

Tell that to Nelson Mandela, whose incarceration proved to be a galvanizing event for equality and human rights.

      • “only doing what they were told to” ??????

Excuse me, but wasn’t that the same defense offered by the Nazis at the Nuremberg Trials in 1945 – 1946 for the war crimes they committed?

Now, are we suppose to excuse the attacks on what was once recognized in this country as the “unalienable Rights” of every American because they were “just following orders”?

The 1st Amendment prohibits the making of any law interfering with the Right to peaceably assemble. Are we to meekly lay down our Liberties and Freedoms?

      • With all due respect… voting, again, will not change anything. It hasn’t for the past 60 years in the US and there is little . To believe we will see any real change from the current paradigm, through a process created by that very system to ensure its own indefinite rule over the people is asinine. The ‘too’ party system has far outlived its usefulness to humanity. Not to mention the fact that politicians have succumb to the corruption of those whom finance their campaigns. All politicians, all nations, are inherently corrupt, following greed rather than their hearts and more importantly the will of the people. #ResourceBasedEconomy #DirectDemocracy The people are ready! Here’s a thought… http://electionboycott.weebly.com/manifesto.html

    • I have shared this at my Facebook-page. I am in Sweden. I will advice all to share and share, things like this is not human or either politically correct. Sick fucking cops..

      • hi there mate i live in sweden to. iknow the cops here arent so great. they are going after kids and teens instead of going after robers and drug users and sellers,

    • You can’t stand up against them. They are many and have powers they abuse,so they get away with it. Missouri has become real bad since ferguson riots. Nobody is safe anymore. I have a lawsuit now against the sherriffs department now and they just keep covering it up

  1. Any Gaines made in our social greivences in the past are being lost on a day by day basis. Most cops who are supposed to impose the law don’t know a dimwits knowledge of law. Lawyers have to school for years. Any low IQ dumbshit can be a cop.

  2. It’s sad how we all want change yet when ever something happens like that, the video clearly shows how we don’t actually put forth an effort to stand up and do it. Nothing will be done by just complaining about it to the world. We have to stand our ground. Their are risks to it, yes. But by not doing anything your being selfish of your own life. You want it to be safe so you wont stand for what you believe. You instead take the safe path and follow.
Stop obeying and stand up! 😀

  3. Shame on the cops! Bring them down! Ladies and Gentlemen of Anonymous, this is a call to arms! Fix this corruption! Unify the peoples! Abolish this abuse of power! Let everyone stand as equals, not kneel as slaves!
    WE ARE ANONYMOUS
    WE DO NOT FORGIVE
    WE DO NOT FORGET
    WE ARE LEGION
    EXPECT US

    • Find out the names of all the bad cops post all their names and faces for the world to see. Let everyone know where they live too. Make them accountable.

  4. So let me get this straight, there are what looks like 2 officers and a third man in a suit by the officers. Why not simply preform a Citizens arrest? Transport those individuals to Federal Lock up for Treason? Seems fair right?

  5. anonymous get off your asses and fucking do something about this i WONT HAVE IT There are Bullying us cos of who we are
    We are legion
    we do not forgive
    we do not forget
    Expect us

  6. That is completely pure bullshit! So people can wear anything that cover them face , hair because they are musculan … Even carry a small knive ! Military can carry bomb , gun and kill but I can’t wear a mask ! And sit in peace !

  7. every last one of the bastards in uniform in that video deserves to be beaten the same way they did to that poor guy and put in jail and sued for every goddamn last penny the fuckers have

  8. From what I have been seeing. America is screwed. The rich are getting richer and telling the government what to do. And they do it. The wars are kept going because of corporate greed from the rich. The cops are either on steroids or fat . Either way they have the mental capacity of a chimp. And that is being derogatory towards a chimp I think!
On this video. If everyone joined together and stopped the cops from doing what they did. There would be nothing they could do. As the saying goes. Divide and conquer. That is what seems to happen. Most people will not question authority in a physical way. Maybe they should. As a group.
Good luck America. You need it. Big time!

    • No one stopped them because if you put your hand on a cop he/she will arrest you for assault. It is a broken system that needs updating or a new one all together. I like in Ireland and the cops are nice, will listen and wont bother you. It makes me sck to see this the USA will claps if this keeps on happening! Anonymous please do something about this. After all you say you are there for the people, so hwlp them when they need you the most!

    • I ask that a lot. An entire room full of people versus 2 police. It’s an ongoing problem, and it’s only getting worse. People hide behind their phones recording what happens, when they could be stopping it.

Consider any video you see, where something bad is happening, regardless of who is right or wrong. People are recording or shouting, but they don’t do anything to stop the bad behavior.

I have stopped “incidents” by just getting in the middle and saying “don’t do that”. The result is better, because I did something, which was almost nothing.

Anyone could have put themselves in the way. Two officers won’t control 10 people. It can escalate, or they will figure out that they have to back down. Eventually, when enough people are willing to just get in the way and say “don’t do that”, the objectionable behavior will stop.

People have to be braver than keyboard warriors. They have to be braver than hiding behind their phones, recording. I’m not suggesting violent action. It’s not necessary. It only takes a little strategy to gently adjust bad behavior.

This entire situation may have been mitigated by a little simple negotiation. They may have let him stay, if he simply held the mask, rather than having it on top of his head. They would have one this “battle”, but next time it could be 20 people with masks on their heads. Or 100. Or 1000. Maybe the battle shouldn’t be to have a mask on your head. I know it is symbolic for the cause, but there are better battles to fight.

      • Solzhenitsyn had similar opinion: “How we burned in the prison camps later thinking: What would things have been like if every police operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive? If during periods of mass arrests people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever was at hand? The organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt.” — Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Nobel Prize winner and author of The Gulag Archipelago, who spent 11 years in Soviet concentration camps.

Sadly, if police over reach and abuse of power continues on the path it is on we may very well see anarchy in America.

Recent polls have reported the American people now fear their own government more than they do the threat of terrorism.

As Thomas Jefferson said, “When government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.”

    • Laying hands on a cop is a really great way to escalate the situation. Not only will you be arrested, but you are putting the man you’re trying to help in further danger. Also, if you are trying to change the system, you need people on your side. The second you are perceived as violent, you lose support from those watching.

    • It’s a sad reflection of the world we live in, inform others, and hope that they will do what we are afraid to.

We will shout and scream at injustices, but when words don’t work, we hesitate to do anything other than press the record button.

    • People we all need to stop this kind of brutality…stop it by grabbing the corrupt police and reversing the sitiuation cuff the police and remove them from the building! Start standing up for our rights as human beings…these crowds of people are strong and can over power these corrupt police ….

  9. if that class hadn’t of been full of cowards and bystanders simply watching and yelling comments, you were a full class of students, with very few police, there is strength in numbers, the US people should know that best of all. all it would of taken was a few people to detain the cops and allow everyone else to leave. obstructing justice you say? they’d have to catch you first 😉

    • Bet you wouldn’t have done anything either!

You’re so full of cr*p in your snide contempt. Why don’t you do something about it now? Let me guess…, you’ve got some excuse as to why you can’t right?

Why don’t you take the time to get whatever information would be required to make a formal complaint against the officers, make the complaint and then post some kind of proof here? Simple challenge. Make a formal complaint.

      I bet you don’t.

So stfu about how others failed because you’re just about ready to join them. Just as soon as you fail to do anything either!

      • comming from the tough guy behind the keyboard lol, if i was there i know for a fact me and mine would have done something (wouldn’t be the first time either), I train yearly with the Vaughn Police in Ontario, we teach them how to handle riots and protesters, so needless to say a uniform doesn’t mean shit to me nor does it intimidate me. so instead of lashing out like a little bitch who got his feelings hurt, how about you take a good look at yourself you fucking coward, and do something about how fucked your country is. I live in Canada by the way so your American problems are mere entertainment for me, although that doesnt make my opinion any less valid.

  10. disgusting! i don’t respect anyone who works for the police or government. i often think that the world scenario it’s getting closer to the V for Vendetta situation. we can stop creating monsters like police workers by a new approach of family education, treat your loved ones correctly and with love&dignity so they cannot even think o f becoming a police man or going to army.

  11. i agree with Finn Jacosben. the people now are so afraid of interfering and stand out for what they think and feel. afraid of acting freely in a world where already we are not being ourselves anymore.
People! the fear is not real, it’s invented by words and exaggerated acts by extremist/narrow minded people.
Fear is not real! it’s an invention of the sickened mind.

  12. Im not from the united states but I have seen similar tactics being used in my country. Its about time we showed the Elite and the 1% that this is NOT their society, it is OURS. The rich and elite few are only appear stronger than us because we allow them to be. Do NOT let them divide us, do NOT let them think they can conquer us. Support your brothers and sisters in times like these. Stand together, united, as one.

    We are Anonymous
    We are legion
    we do not forgive
    we do not forget
    Expect us

  13. on average there are 3-5 police officers per 1000 citizens… everyone has the right to own a gun even if it is a simple hunting rifle. I dont see why we are continually afraid of these thugs with tin badges.

  14. All these comments that i read about people saying anonymous do something, remember you are also part of anonymous for those people that are saying “anonymous do something” you can take your own actions and not sit and say do something please…. living in your own little comfortable box, step out of it and join anonymous together we are much stronger but people seem to forget it

  15. Im realy glad im not living in US.
I whoud have been shot down in minutes.
If i witnes this insident, i whoud have gotten in the throuth of the Police.
Unless the officers told me the legit reason for the arrest.
You that live in US shoud realy start to use the Law against your goverment and leadership.
You all been stept on like bugs.

  16. Here are my thoughts regarding this article and the man in the Anonymous mask: firstly, you only wear such a mask to a council or government meeting if you are intending some kind of disruption. You’re a expecting a reaction, and then outraged when you get one. Secondly, if Janet Higgens was just a concerned bystanding witness to the event, it’s funny she knew the Anonymous guy’s name and all about his status down at the jail. I smell a spin on this story, at the very least.

  17. Ain’t nothing going to change.
Nobody is going to do anything about it.
All anyone is going to do is just sit there wining about how it’s so unfair. Complain about how awful it is that the police treat us like this.
And keep uploading useless video’s of police brutality to YouTube.

    Ain’t nothing going to change.
Hillary will continue to violate the laws as she sees fit. And she will continue to walk away as if she wasn’t even there.
The banksters will continue to rob the American people of their life’s savings and never see the inside of a cell.
    Because

    Ain’t nothing going to change.
The NSA will continue to spy on innocent Americans as if they were violent, treasonous terrorists. They will ignore the highest court in the land.
The FBI will violate the law and break into people’s private property. And they will do so out in the open. Without fear of any repercussions.

    Ain’t nothing going to change.
Local cops will use Stingray’s to eavesdrop on your phone calls. They will use handheld devices to look inside your homes without a warrant. They will assault you and then arrest you for assault. That is if they don’t simply kill you outright.

    Ain’t nothing going to change.
The media will continue to bring you only 3 or 4 stories a week worthy of their time. And they will all tell the same story. Whatever lie they’ve been told to spread.
If you stand up for what’s right, the media will make you out to be a villain and the sheep will believe them. They will give you only the information that someone else wants you to have, the truth be damned.

    Ain’t nothing going to change.
You have no rights anymore. You haven’t had them for years. Tell me one you think you still have and I will prove to you how you don’t.
You will continue to remain poor, and the rich will only get richer. You will never achieve the American dream. You will never be free of debt. Your children will be born into financial slavery.

And ain’t none of it going to change.

    • If the citizens here were armed they could have instituted a citizens arrest and arrested the big fat dumb-ass tyrant. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

    • Your right nothing is going to change unless people make change happen, it’s not impossible just difficult, no adversary no matter how powerful how ingrained in any number of establishments or financial powers they are, in the end they have flaws weaknesses and with the proper understanding and preparation those weaknesses can be exploited to defeat an enemy, knowledge and courage win fights not power and money, politicians don’t fight they send others to do the dirty work for them, now imagine the f you could have those people fight for you instead? I know soldiers was one pretty sure it wouldn’t play out how you think about n the end.

  18. It’s time to do something about this. Thx to all brave people who where shouting and trying to stop that insane things happening. We are the people! We have the power of masses, and we must unite against them. Next time all of you make a circle around them ,keep close to each other and just don’t let them do anything, because they can’t oppose or arest a big group of united people!

  19. What are you going to do in a situation like this…turn around and call…the police? Who do you turn to? You can’t take action to save the life of an innocent victim, because they will turn you into a victim as well. They have guns and will shoot you. This will keep happening. They start off small by pulling you over and telling you that you ran a red light when clearly you did NOT, then it spirals to THIS. You can’t argue with them, because they have so much P-O-W-E-R. Yet, a school teacher can’t lay a hand on a student that is giving them lip and throwing desks around and kicking them. The power is in the wrong hands. Welcome to American, land of the free, home of the brave. Stay in your homes and have all your needs delivered to your doors.

  20. FYI: Discussions with law enforcement and government in Australia are now looking to ban Fawkes masks during protests. Only religious garb to be worn – and evidence must be provided to police at the demonstrations. I believe similar happenings in France, also. Will keep you posted in further articles.

  21. I live in Canada but from all I’ve been seeing it looks to me like you guys and gals in the US are being plunged without reason into a military state, how did this happen how did things spiral out of control for so long and the good people did nothing? Could it be possible that not even one or two elected officials, people who are supposed to be there to protect not just national interests but more importantly the people themselves, are without corruption? The thing that breaks my heart is it seems like people will never let go of hate and power and the need to control those they feel are beneath them, it’s as if the entire planet was put to sleep and now that we’re waking up there’s nothing good to be awake for, what kind of future are we predicting here because to me it looks like this will all end in grief and when the dust clears those people the ones who established this terrible world order will still be there lurking in the background waiting to start the machine back up, breaks my heart

  22. This is so, so wrong.

We need to unite, and realise the power that we, the 99%, /do/ have. They have money – but what value has that when we refuse to use it?
They have weapons – but we have numbers, factories and labour.
They have law – but we have morality.

    We are the 99%
    We are legion
    We are anonymous
    We do not forgive
    We do not forget
    Expect us.

    Unite.

  23. There was a time when Americans believed in freedom.

The US is dying from a million cuts. Part of the reason the USA is a nanny police state now is that whenever there is a problem, the kneejerk reaction in the US is to call for a new law.

Nanny state laws are not the best solution, however. Nanny state laws lead to more laws, higher fines, and tougher sentences. Thirty-five years ago, DWI laws were enacted that led to DWI checkpoints and lower DWI levels. Seatbelt laws led to backseat seatbelt laws, childseat laws, and pet seatbelt laws. Car liability insurance laws led to health insurance laws and gun liability laws. Smoking laws that banned smoking in buildings led to laws against smoking in parks and then bans against smoking in entire cities. Sex offender registration laws led to sex offender restriction laws and violent offender registration laws.

Nanny state laws don’t make us safer, either. Nanny state laws lead people to be careless since they don’t need to have personal responsibility anymore. People don’t need to be careful crossing the street now because drunk-driving has been outlawed and driving while using a mobile phone is illegal. People don’t investigate companies or carry out due diligence because businesses must have business licenses now.

The main point of nanny state laws is not safety. The main purposes of more laws are control and revenue generation for the state.

Another reason laws are enacted is because corporations give donations to lawmakers to stifle competition or increase sales.

Many laws are contradictory, too. Some laws say watering lawns is required, while other laws say watering lawns is illegal.

Many nanny state laws that aim to solve a problem can be fixed by using existing laws. If assault is already illegal, why do we need a new law that outlaws hitting umpires?

Nanny state laws are not even necessary. If everything was legal would you steal, murder, and use crack cocaine? Aren’t there other ways to solve problems besides calling the police? Couldn’t people educate or talk to people who bother them? Couldn’t people be sued for annoying behavior? Couldn’t people just move away? Even if assault was legal, wouldn’t attackers risk being killed or injured, too? Do people have consciences? Having no laws doesn’t mean actions have no consequences.

If there is no victim, there is no crime.

We don’t need thousands of laws when we only need 10.

Should swimming pools be banned because they are dangerous? Hammers? Bottles? Rocks? Energy drinks? Pillows?

    Where does it end?

Freedom is not just a one way street. You can only have freedom for yourself if you allow others to have it.

Control freaks might get angry when a neighbor owns three indoor cats, but what did the neighbor take from them? Why should this be illegal? Is outlawing cats something a free country should do? Doesn’t banning everything sound like the opposite of liberty?

Instead of getting mad at people who like freedom, why don’t people realize that freedom is a two way street?

If you allow others to paint their house purple then you can, too.

If you allow others to own a gun then you can, too.

If you allow others to swear then you can, too.

If you allow others to gamble then you can, too.

Who wants to live in a prison?

    Think. Question everything.
