Mainstream media has been receiving huge amounts of criticism lately, and, probably, most of it is justified. But what are the problems with Mainstream media? What are the things we should be looking out for when consuming it? Well here are 6 things to consider…
1) They are mouthpieces for the establishment
2) Repetition
3) Context
4) Character Assassination
5) Concision
6) False balance
Concision not necessarily a problem. depending on how it’s done. Limited newsprint space and broadcast time forces some concision.
False ‘balance’ is the most problematical. Once audiences find out a ‘news’ outlet has been censoring relevant info, its credibility is finished.
