Alabama Cop Fired for Leaving Innocent Indian Grandfather Paralyzed

Eric Parker, the police officer who brutally thrashed a 57-year-old Indian citizen walking on the sidewalk outside of his son’s home, is being criminally charged for leaving Sureshbhai Patel temporarily paralyzed and hospitalized with fused vertebrae.

“He was just walking on the sidewalk as he does all the time. They put him to the ground. This is a good neighborhood. I didn’t expect anything to happen,” Chirag Patel, son of Sureshbhai said. Chirag is an engineer and two weeks ago had flown his father to America to help his wife care for Chirag’s 17-month-old son, so that he could finish graduate courses for his masters degree in electrical engineering at the University of Alabama.

Hank Sherrod, the attorney for the Patel family, said, “This is broad daylight, walking down the street. There is nothing suspicious about Mr. Patel other than he has brown skin.” Sherrod said one officer slammed his client face first into the ground, with his arms pulled behind him. “This is just one of those things that don’t need to happen,” he added. “That officer doesn’t need to be on the streets.”

Apologizing for the incident, Madison Police blamed a communication barrier. Sureshbhai had told the cops, “No English,” and gave them his son’s address. But that didn’t stop the officers from beating the man to the point of paralysis.

Madison Police Department has suspended the officer and was investigating the use of brute force in this case. The police had received a call that a man was, “looking in garages.” “The caller, who lives in the neighborhood did not recognize the subject and thought him to be suspicious,” the police statement on the incident stated.

“The subject began putting his hands in his pockets,” the police statement added. “Officers attempted to pat the subject down and he attempted to pull away. The subject was forced to the ground, which resulted in injury.”

Indian-Man

Syed Akbaruddin, spokesman for India’s External Affairs Ministry, said that their government takes the incident “very seriously.” They are in contact with the US mission in New Delhi and also with officials in Washington and Alabama. “What we will communicate is that we are extremely disturbed. This is a matter of concern for us, and India and the US as open pluralist societies need to address these issues and find ways in a mature manner so that these are aberrations and are not the norm,” he told reporters.

He is being treated in Huntsville Hospital and has limited movement in his right leg but his family fears he may never leave. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help pay for Mr Patel’s medical bills.

  1. Where is a link to their police station so I can talk some shit to these racist assholes. Trained to attack like feral dogs wtf do you think will happen?

  2. this is what happens when you give a person some authority..Just because of the color of his skin and all this happening with Muslims..certain people automatically judge. I say this family should sue the whole police department and this might make some police and people who think their crap dont stink that this has gone on far enough….(” A government afraid of its citizens is a democracy. Citizens afraid of Government is tyranny.” Thomas Jefferson)

    • An eye for an eye
      – He should get the same treatment as the victim, only this way they will learn to respect and truly protect other human beings…

  3. I tryed the U.S. department of justice ,TBI, FBI and no luck with any of them .dyersburg Tenn. police department officers force me to sit in a dodge cruiser with back injuries (L5 thru S1) and two discs and told them two times I had them and I’m a big man it’s on dashcam 4/23/14 they are on Facebook

  4. WHAT THE HELL. I went to high school with this dude, I had no idea he was the officer. He was never nice to any POC, especially when we were teenagers.

  5. There should be no need for a GoFundMe account because all costs for his care and future well-being should be paid by this scum cop and his masters.

  6. Why is he having to pay his own medical expenses! He should be entitled to victims compensation. The perpetrators should be billed for both his medical and legal expenses and any other out of pocket expenses that he or his family,in both India and America, are now faced with as a result of this. Including the cost of a nanny.

  7. How much you wanna make a bet that the perpetrating officer is a veteran from Iraq? Trained to view all brownies as terrorist suspects and riddled with PTSD. Police forces have got to stop hiring these damaged goods!

  8. So this is America at its best again! Someone needs to inform these racist idiots that their white colour does not make them superior to the the rest of the population. Disgusting creatures!

  9. A shit country with shit people, they shoot anyone, and their cops have the authority to kill anyone.
I’d have to re-think going to this racist country.

  10. cops murder innocents in the streets all the time. it’s become so common place, usually with no consequences for the officer.

so i’m surprised at the surprise registered by other commenters here that this could happen. it’s the new norm in america.

  11. OK you liberal idiots – now I have a realistic comment… I saw the video, I read the report. The suspect resisted POLICE, he was given several chances, he attempted to evade POLICE, that is obstruction of JUSTICE… Justice? Do any of you know what Justice, Law and Order are? What is this anonhq.com site? Propaganda? Have ANY of you here studied history? Ever?
OK – the suspect was injured, by ACCIDENT. LOOK AT THE VIDEO. THIS IS NO BEATING. THESE ARE POLICE DOING WHAT SHOULD BE DONE TO PROTECT THEMSELVES AND ALL OF US – EVEN IDIOTS. So as Obama said – GET OF YOUR HIGH HORSE. Now read this again 50 times. Think about it. Then respond if you like with an intelligent statement. I have said the truth in the company of idiots once again. If you do not agree, than you prove the point that you are an idiot. No one can argue with idiots. So do not respond to me directly – I will not respond. I have told it like it really is. I am not delusional like others that have posted on this website on this matter.
If you must rant on about how you disagree with my view, please check your spelling and punctuation. Mistakes make you look very stupid.

    Good day from Trace.

    • STFU. You need to see the video 50 times, and maybe it will help you grow a brain. The guy was not a burgler, when you are a cop you need to keep self control. The cops action of physical violence was not a restraining motion, but an action to physically harm the guy. Again STFU.

    • The suspect was not injured by accident. He was injured in the course of an officer committing abuse under color of law (Section 242 of Title 18). This is the same law that protects YOU from being abused by police.

From the Justice Department web site:

DEPRIVATION OF RIGHTS UNDER COLOR OF LAW
      Summary:

Section 242 of Title 18 makes it a crime for a person acting under color of any law to willfully deprive a person of a right or privilege protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States.

For the purpose of Section 242, acts under “color of law” include acts not only done by federal, state, or local officials within the their lawful authority, but also acts done beyond the bounds of that official’s lawful authority, if the acts are done while the official is purporting to or pretending to act in the performance of his/her official duties. Persons acting under color of law within the meaning of this statute include police officers, prisons guards and other law enforcement officials, as well as judges, care providers in public health facilities, and others who are acting as public officials. It is not necessary that the crime be motivated by animus toward the race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin of the victim.

The offense is punishable by a range of imprisonment up to a life term, or the death penalty, depending upon the circumstances of the crime, and the resulting injury, if any.

      TITLE 18, U.S.C., SECTION 242

Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, … shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnaping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.
