Elephant Tramples To Death The Hunter Tracking Him

9

Amidst the outrage currently circulating around the hunting of African animals, it has been reported that a hunter has been trampled to death by an elephant he had been tracking.

The hunter, Ian Gibson had been on a hunt with a tracker and a client in Chewore North in the lower Zambezi Vally of Zimbabwe, when he was charged by the animal.

The elephant that trampled the hunter has recently been exhibiting aggressive behaviour associated with ‘musth’, which often occurs when the animals is ready to mate. Gibson and his party had been informed prior to the hunt of the bulls recent behaviour.

After the incident, Safari Classics published an online statement describing the events.

“Feeling he was quite close to the elephant, Ian and his tracker Robert continued to follow the tracks in hopes of getting a look at the ivory as the client stayed with the game scout.”

“They eventually caught up with the bull, spotting him at about 50-100 metres. The bull instantly turned and began a full charge.”

“Ian and Robert began shouting in order to stop the charge. At very close range, Ian was able to get off one shot before the bull killed him. The scene was very graphic.”

“Ian Gibson was a fine man and one of the most experienced professional hunters on the African continent. He will be deeply missed by all…”

Multiple conflicting claims have arisen  since the hunters death, Gibson’s alleged employer Chifuti Safaris has stated that the hunter and his party had been “scouting for lions when he encountered the elephant,” whilst Safari Classics have refuted these claims, “The report of stalking lion is incorrect, Ian and his tracker Robert were approaching a elephant [sic] bull in thick cover to judge ivory size,” causing a level of uncertainty regarding the intentions of the hunt. It is currently unknown whether the young elephant was injured or killed during the incident.

  1. there should be no “hunts” allowed of any animal other than for food. We have destroyed many species, that can never be brought back, or can only be seen in zoo’s. We must learn to protect nature, and end this sensuous practice. In most cases animals are not hunted, they are baited while the shooter sits in a hut waiting to shoot. This is cowardly and sickening.

  2. In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University .

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air.

The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully.

He got down on one knee, inspected the elephants foot, and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it.

As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his knife,

after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot.

The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments.

Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled.

Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away.

Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son..

As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and

walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing.

The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down.

The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter could not help wondering if this was the same elephant.

Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing, and made his way into the enclosure.

He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder.

The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs

and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.

Probably wasn’t the same fucking elephant.

  3. Well done too the elephant for killing this disgusting human. All trophy hunters should be lynched for crimes against nature.

  4. Floriaan Mathysen Gerst; We love elephants, lets hunt the hunters! Greetings, Floriaan Mathysen Gerst
