SEA MONSTER: Amazed fishermen catch giant alien fish AN ENORMOUS sea monster with a gargantuan gaping mouth like a car boot has been found lurking in the Pacific Ocean.

It has emerged that a fisherman from Japan has made an unusual catch during his fishing expedition. The creature, which was caught in Pacific waters, has been described as an alien-like monster fish.

Media outlets in Japan reported that a man called Hiroshi Hirasaka, first reported the catch on his Twitter page. To accompany his announcement on Twitter, Hirasaka also posted a photo of the creature. In the photo, the man who is believed to have pulled the giant creature from the deep sea off the coast of Hokkaido, is seen struggling to even carry it in his hands.

It was worth flying to Shiretoko [Hokkaido] twice within three months. This guy is super cool! I live to chase interesting creatures. Exotic Fish Species: I Caught, Judged and Tried Eating,” Hirasaka wrote on his Twitter profile. Those who knew Hirasaka, said this is not the first time he has made a strange catch. They said he is fond of catching weird animals and eventually eating them. He made the catch in August, 2015. When the photo of the creature first emerged, some Japanese media reports speculated that the creature may have mutated from the destruction of the Fukushima nuclear power plant in the 2011 Japanese tsunami, an incident which devastated the country.

However, the strange and ugly creature was identified as a close relation to the Bering wolffish. The Daily Off Beat said a normal wolffish grows up to 112 centimeters and weighs 15 kilograms. This giant sea creature was nearly two meters long. However, no accurate measurements were made of the creatures weight or height.

It is said wolffish are usually found in the northeastern parts of the Pacific Ocean. They have big mouths and other strange characteristics. The length of their heads are approximately 19 to 21 percent of their total body length.

They are not sufficiently documented, and Hirasaka’s catch would have been a perfect opportunity for researchers to study the creature further and ascertain the species in greater detail. Sea mammal experts have said they are not dangerous. It is said they primarily feed on crabs and mollusks.
