Video: Cop Parks In Disabled Bay At McDonalds, Man Polices The Police

10

A Webster Police officer first illegally parked his cruiser in a handicapped spot to buy burgers from McDonalds and then when he was told by a driver that what he did was illegal, the cop responded rudely to the confrontation.

“Do you realise you have parked it illegally right?” pointed the driver to which the officer replied, “Do you know what you’re talking about? This isn’t a handicapped spot, okay? I’m a marked police unit”. “So you get to park wherever you want?” the driver asked and the cop responded, “That’s right”. The above-the-law cop then resorted to intimidation, pulling out a notepad, asking the driver’s name and ID.

But the Webster Police Department said that the parking space was not a handicapped spot at the time of the incident—and that the incident occurred months ago. Webster Police Lieutenant Michael Shaw told Boston.com that the officer in the video notified his superiors of the incident when it happened on November 30, and afterward brought the driver into the McDonald’s, so the restaurant’s manager could confirm it was a regular spot.

“Of course we posted an explanation on our Facebook page, but people don’t believe it,” Shaw said. “They say we abuse our power, wish death on us, say they wish we would be ambushed and killed.”

In the Facebook post, Webster Police had explained:

McDonalds had recently expanded their handicapped parking, and the sign for this spot was removed, and the symbol was painted over. However, through the wear and tear of winters and traffic in New England, the black paint wore off and the symbol is somewhat visible, which thus makes it appear to be a handicapped parking spot which it is not.

However, the Webster police Facebook page disappeared from the social media website after the controversy.

  1. In Michigan, a handicapped space HAS to have a posted sign pole to be a “real” handicap spot. I looked it up once after our douche-bag neighbors (who were not handicapped at all) kept parking the in handicapped spots at the apartments we lived in. I cared because we actually needed the spot, my fiance is handicapped in a power chair. When I confronted the wife about it one morning, she then sent her husband over to bitch me out, he stated the law at me. So they were such douchebags that they looked up their loophole to park in handicapped spots. The apartment complex put up the pole signs the next day and the neighbors actually paid the thousands of dollars to break their lease and moved out after a month.

People treat my fiance like he’s invisible all the time. Be a decent human being and don’t use the handicapped stalls, or family bathrooms just because you need to poop…some people have to use it all the time. Don’t park in handicapped parking if you aren’t, because its a pain in the ass to unload a wheelchair, or transfer someone into a wheelchair in a normal space.

We no longer have a car, let alone a wheelchair accessible one, so we had to rent one before, and someone actually drove over the ramp and didn’t stop, completely destroying it.

    🙁

  2. If you look into this event, the police officer is in the right. This spot was an old handicapped spot that was painted over, the handicapped signed was moved.

  3. Except that its not a handicap spot. Although it happens regularly this is not an abuse of police power (even though by his responses this cop IS one of the entitled that are “above the law”).
In many jurisdictions a handicap spot is only a handicap spot if idetified by BOTH a sign and markage on the parkage spot. Once that sign is removed it is no longer a handicap space.

    • its not a handicaped spot!its actually a disablement parking spot and you could see the disablement sign on the ground a little faint but you could still see it and police or no police should not be parking there without a disablement badge which then allows you to park there which im sure the officer did not have ./

  4. Firing the officer would’ve been a better idea in cases like this, instead of claiming whatever bullshit the chief makes up.

  5. man, just because you got lazy and got caught, oh you dont like it when you get asked if you are above the law? deal wid it

  6. Well, you can clearly see in the video that the explanation of Webster Police is true, the partially worn off paint is perfectly visible. So the headline of this article is nonsense…

  7. More propaganda to demonize every police officer. Humans are humans. You can’t control them.. Sure there’s people out there with their head up their ass, but harassing police officers just for the kicks? What’s the point in that.

This reminds me of the videos from some douchebag that looks suspect as hell looking at a camera complaining how he’s only being talked to because he looks like this/certain race/whatever. If your pants are around your knees with tattoos on your face like a fucking idiot, expect to be looked at suspiciously.

I like to see both sides of everything, but this is just getting out of hand. Complain all you want but where would you be if you got shot or somebody broke in to your home and you had nobody to call because police said fuck it.

  8. i use a cane to walk and i look bad at it but it is better than a walker and easier to use … i try to show at stores with their own carts because people steal them all the time and what is done … not much because you cant stop people all over to see if it is marked or not … in the winter it is great to have a spot with little to NO ice to walk on … just try to use a cane on ice – like i rink – and use it to hold yourself up … it will go out from under you and like me with or without as plate it is not good to fall … i try to walk as far as i can because use it or lose it … but when i see some one who jumps out of a car and almost runs into the store in the rain i just wonder if their disability is mental and not physical … so when you hear the man with no shoes complain till he see the man with no feet you could be that person in a second … i damaged my spinal cord by doin my job … it took just i second and then next i could not walk up stairs … and i am one of the LUCKY ones … i received a settlement but after 10 years i would give it ALL back to work again and have a regular life like i had before … OT … payday … work … some thingy to do besides what i wanted to do in retirement … watch sports and N.A.P. ( Non Active Person) … it is real borin and still not use to wife havin to work … just remember when you need shoes you only need shoes … please remember those who need a thought from time to time … i walk and it is a blessin till i cant …
