Video: Cop Thrashes 13-Year-Old School Girl With A Baton

A violent scuffle between a cop and three girls of Vanguard Middle School in northeast Baltimore was captured on surveillance cameras; it brings into question whether punishing the teenagers with assaulting the cop and the officer’s use of force was justified.

The altercation started when Diamond’s cousin, Starr, had an encounter with the school police officer as they were changing classes. The officer yelled at her and said, “Little girl, get down here”. Starr replied, “My name is not little girl, it’s Starr”. That’s when the officer grabbed and pushed her against a wall. Diamond appears to push the officer, who then let go of Starr and pulled a baton and hit Diamond in the face at least twice. Starr’s sister then went to stop her. All of them were taken to a hospital: Diamond because of the head injury and her cousins because they were hit by pepper spray.

After the hospital visit, police took the sisters to juvenile booking, where they were charged with assaulting the officer. The girls were also suspended and sent to alternative schools reserved for troubled kids.
