Comedian George Carlin entertains the crowd on May 1, 2003, at Veterans Memorial Civic Center in Lima, Ohio. Carlin, 71, whose staunch defense of free speech in his most famous routine "Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television" led to a key Supreme Court ruling on obscenity, died Sunday June 22, 2008. He went into St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica on Sunday complaining of chest pain and died later that evening, said his publicist, Jeff Abraham. (AP Photo/The Lima News, David G. Massey)

George Carlin was an American comedian, actor, social critic and author, as well as an activist against censorship who worked to address some of society’s more rigid perceptions through verbal activism. While many thought of his comedic-style as shock-humor, others thought of it as genius. An example was brought to attention by The Free Thought Project.

Before Carlin’s death in 2008, he wrote the book “When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops?” in which he discussed multiple topics, including political correctness, which he believed is intolerance disguised as tolerance. Provided below is a portion of the book spoken by Carlin himself:
