[Video] Iran Shows Off Its Secret Subterranean Missile Hoard

Iranian television has gone and broadcast video footage of a secret tunnel filled with missiles and launcher units. This is the first time they have ever done so, and officials have claimed that this is just one of many such missile silos.

Located about half a kilometer beneath some mountains, the video seems to be showing a long tunnel about ten meters in height.

Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Islamic Republic’s Revolutionary Guards’ aerospace division (title inflation much?):

The Islamic republic’s long-range missile bases are stationed and ready under the high mountains in all the country’s provinces and cities,” he said as quoted by the Guards’ website.

This is a sample of our massive missile bases,” he said, adding that “a new and advanced generation of long-range liquid and solid fuel missiles” will replace the current weapons in 2016.

He issued a warning to anyone who might threaten Iran by suggesting that they had better “have a look at the Islamic republic’s army options under the table.”

This reveal occurred at a very appropriate time, just as the Iranian parliament passed a nuclear deal, the one that had been backed by all the major nations (the US, UK, France, China, Russia and Germany) way back in July.

Apparently Iran has agreed to reduce its nuclear activities so that Western countries will lift their sanctions.

The US has stated that the military option is still (and probably will be for a number of years) on the table despite this agreement.

Showing that it has lots and lots of missiles seems to be a deterrent of sorts.

“The missiles in various ranges are mounted on the launchers in all bases and ready to be launched,” the Iranian general said as quoted by Press TV. They will be used if “enemies make a mistake,” he said.

This reveal comes on the back of Iranian missile tests which according to Obama was not a violation of the nuclear agreement.

Interestingly, Iran has apparently stated that development of ballistic missiles, including ones capable of carrying a nuclear payload, was not part of the agreement- while simultaneously claiming that they would never seek the development of a nuclear bomb.
