Technology can be a miraculous thing. Perhaps I’m preaching to the converted, my words typed on an electronic device, stored and uploaded digitally, read by you on similar electronic devices around the world.
But what happens when our obsession with owning the newest, fastest, best gadgets outpaces our awareness of how these products are made and disposed of? What is the true cost of our rampant consumerism?
This is the underlying theme of a new animated short by The Gaia Foundation, a non-profit organization formed in 1985 with the aim of “restoring a respectful relationship with the Earth.”
The animation hits close to home; one could even say it is a bit of a wake up call.
