Helen Johnson, a 47-year-old grandmother in Tarrant, Ala., was recently caught shoplifting eggs to feed her family. Officer William Stacy was called to the scene, but rather than arresting Johnson, he bought her the eggs.

She started crying,” said Stacy. “She said, ‘I need help. I need help Officer Stacy, I need to put food in my babies’ stomachs.’ That’s what got me. That’s what hit me the hardest. I told her to park on the side of the parking lot. I ran in, bought the carton of eggs, came back outside and handed them to her.”

Stacy claimed that he himself came from humble beginnings, stating that his mother had trouble feeding him and his sister. He had also been on a call to Johnson’s house before, and had seen the condition in which she and her family lived.

Overwhelming: Helen Johnson gets emotional as she unpacks donated food in her kitchen. Stacy bought the one dozen eggs that Johnson stole from a local store and didn’t arrest her. The act to kindness was recorded and Johnson says it changed her life

A cellphone video of the encounter was posted to Facebook with the hashtag #feelgoodstoryoftheday. It soon went viral, and donations began to pour in from around the world.

The last time I saw my house this full, I was 12-years-old and staying with my grandmother,” Johnson told the Birmingham News. “I’ve been crying all day.”

More from Birmingham News:

“What a difference a week makes. Johnson’s two daughters, a niece and two grandchildren, ages 1 and 3, live with her in their Tarrant home. The kids’ mother gets a welfare check—$120 a month—but that check was lost in the mail. Johnson herself gets a disability check, which is set to come this week.

“By Saturday, the family had gone two days without food. Johnson went to Dollar General on Pinson Valley Parkway with $1.25 and thought that would be enough to buy a carton of eggs. When she realized she was 50 cents plus tax short, she stuffed five eggs in her pocket out of desperation.”

In the end, the eggs in her pocket were crushed. “I’m not a good thief at all,” Johnson told the newspaper.

Obama Urges Congress To Renew Push For “CISPA-style” Internet Laws After Sony Hack

Written by: John Vibes at theantimedia.org

This week, Obama announced a renewed push for tighter internet regulations in congress, citing the need for additional cyber-security in light of the recent hack on Sony.

The White House has been taking this opportunity to initiate strategies that had already been planed for years. Many internet freedom activists actually expected for these types of suggestions to be coming out of the White House after any type of internet incident or irregularity.

At a press conference on Friday, President Obama said that he had assigned a “cyber agency team to look at everything we could do at the government level to prevent these kinds of attacks.”

During the press conference Obama also said that, “We have been correlating with the private sector but a lot more needs to be done,” and urged congress for “stronger cybersecurity laws in the new year.”

Other government represenatives such as White House Economic Council Director Jeff Zient are also pushing for tighter cyber-security laws. At a Politico breakfast on Friday, Zients said that the President would take executive action to pass internet regulations “if federal government assets were at risk.”

In order to take this to the next level we need legislation, Zients told Politico.

As we have been covering this week, the US government has been attempting to lay the blame on North Korea for the Sony hack, but many experts and Sony employees actually believe that it was an inside job, possibly carried out by a disgruntled employee.

While government officials are talking about how to respond to this alleged transgression from North Korea, the FBI is actually thoroughly investigating Sony’s IT department for suspects in the case.

Finally, Cop Fired For Refusing to Turn on Body Camera When Shooting a Teenager

Albuquerque police officer Jeremy Dear, who fatally shot a 19-year-old girl suspected of stealing a truck in April, has been fired for insubordination and untruthfulness.  Police investigation revealed that Dear intentionally switched off his body camera before he shot and killed Mary Hawkes.

Albuquerque police chief Gorden Eden said the firing was part of a ‘zero tolerance’ policy on police camera use during citizen interactions. Eden’s statement read: “Insubordination tears at the fabric of public safety, especially when the officer makes a choice not to follow a lawful order. The department has a policy requiring all officers to record every time they have contact with a citizen. Dear was under that order and didn’t comply.”

According to the police, on April 21, 2014, after a foot chase, Hawkes allegedly pointed a gun at Dear. That prompted the officer to shoot and kill her. The incident wasn’t recorded because apparently his body camera ‘malfunctioned’.

Hawkes autopsy reported that all three gunshots were fired on her from a downward trajectory, indicating that Dear was actually standing over the teenage girl when he killed her.

Here’s all you want to know of the incident…

This is not the first occasion where Dear’s body camera was mysteriously turned off.

A review of Dear’s personnel file shows that in January 2013, his camera malfunctioned during the course of him breaking up a fight, in which Dear did strike the 22-year-old suspect several times on his face with a closed fist. The incident wasn’t recorded because the camera was never turned on during the encounter. Dear said he tried to turn it on but it just didn’t seem to work.

In February the same year, Dear pulled a man over for speeding, handcuffed him too tightly, and allegedly kicked the suspect in the groin after dragging him from his vehicle. This too wasn’t recorded.

Thomas Grover, Jeremy Dear’s lawyer, said, “If they fire every officer who doesn’t turn on his uniform camera, they won’t have anyone left on the department.”

Grover added that the number of citizen complaints in Dear’s file are the result of working a lot of extra hours, so he had more contact with citizens than the average patrol officer.

Here’s more on Dear’s firing…

Monsanto and the FDA: Trillion Dollar Hustle

0

Written by: Vandita

Is Monsanto, the American agro-business conglomerate and first to genetically modify a plant cell, and FDA, responsible for supervising food safety  and protecting and promoting public health, working hand in hand? Why is it that the mainstream media is keeping a dangerous silence on this partnership?

Michael Taylor served as deputy commissioner for policy to the FDA on food safety, returned to Monsanto as Vice President for Public Policy, and is now Senior Advisor to the Commissioner of the FDA. The frequent entry and exit between Monsanto and the US government has allowed Monsanto to profit by favourable regulations at the expense of customer safety.

Go back a few years in recent past and you would remember the Just-Label-It campaign. A number of activist groups petitioned the FDA for mandating labelling of genetically modified food all across United States of America. Some surveys did indicate that around 90 percent of Americans wanted GMO labels on food.

The Just-Label-It campaign collected signatures from 1 million Americans but the FDA observed that only 394 comments were submitted by the group. The main petition was submitted as a single document and the FDA chose to count it as one comment (the other 393 comments came from individuals who contacted the agency separately). Makes you frown? It surely does. fda approves

The worst is Obama was rhetorically supportive of mandating GMO products to be labelled. Despite Obama’s supposed support for such labelling, his administration was silent on the issue during this fight and, as a result, no mandate was passed.

The fact that there still is no federal regulation on GMO labelling is no fluke. Consider these two key statements from Monsanto and FDA from the 1990s when the commercial sale of genetically modified crops began in America.

Quoted in the New York Times Magazine (October 25, 1998, Playing God in the Garden), Philip Angell, Monsanto’s director of corporate communications, famously stated: “Monsanto shouldn’t have to vouchsafe the safety of biotech food. Our interest is in selling as much of it as possible. Assuring its safety is the FDA’s job.”

From the Federal Register, Volume 57, No.104, Statement of [FDA] Policy: Foods Derived from New Plant Varieties, here is what the FDA had to say on this matter: “Ultimately, it is the food producer who is responsible for assuring safety.”

These two statements are a clear indication that passing the buck back and forth was the strategy by which genetically modified food was sneaked into the US food supply even though there was no one to take responsibility of the risk the GM food posed to human health. The deal to give free passage to GM food was substantially aimed at making profits and establishing a new monopoly on food rather than health, technology or feeding the world.

Putting the world’s food supply into fewer hands seems to be high on the globalist agenda.  In this case, it was about gene drift. It is well known that once planted, genetically modified organisms escape their fields and contaminate natural crops, killing biodiversity one plant at a time. GM crops taint the farmland and there is no stopping it; it is only spreading. Monsanto convinced the farmers to lock themselves into GMO-seed contracts, bought up food-seed companies in order to engineer the seed, and the gene-drift factor was an advantage that Monsanto had that other people didn’t know about.

Here is evidence that, even in earlier days, Monsanto knew about and pushed for the globalist agenda. Quoted by J. Flint, in his 1998 Agricultural Giants Moving Towards Genetic Monopolism, Robert Fraley, head of Monsanto’s agri-division, stated: “What you are seeing is not just a consolidation of [Monsanto-purchased] seed companies. It’s really a consolidation of the entire food chain.”

Globalists are stern in their actions and are very seriously concerned about the results. Taking the ownership of world food is part of their strike-force action plan, and Monsanto is the technocratic arm of that plan.

The Monsanto-FDA sordid saga has been treated shabbily by the mainstream media. It is not that journalists are not doing their duties. They do pretend that they’re reporting the real news; they do give the impression that Monsanto, GMO and the FDA are safe and have no controversy or major issue. On and off they do release a troubling piece about Monsanto. But these stories are more to deceive, are found generally on page 7, reveal very little, and die before they gather steam.

The controlled press produces stories that merely present both sides of a conflict without drawing conclusions. And it was no different in this case. The New York Times and the Washington Post could gain millions both in readership and dollars by just uncovering the truth and exposing the lies of Monsanto and GMO food. But they chose to neglect their responsibilities and became the mute spectator of globalist propaganda. Major media are part and parcel of Monsanto’s future… And they know it.

Russia & North Korea – The Start of An Alliance?

9

An invitation has been sent to Kim Jong Un of North Korea to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Soviet defeat over Nazi Germany, confirms the Kremlin.

Putin has extended his invitation to the North Korean leader, and it is said that this will be Kim Jong Un’s first international visit since 2011, when he took over leadership of the country. But Putin may also have some ulterior motives behind the invite, with his intentions to extend the Gazprom line through North Korea to its Southern counterpart.

But it’s a two way street for North Korea who is also seeking support from Russia as a member of the UN security council as they face the possibility of trial in the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity. Russia has permanent veto power on the council. The UN council has also called to re-examine North Korea’s capacity for nuclear weaponry, but according to Reuters, North Korea is ready to discuss their nuclear program on an international level again.
