Talk about creepy: A 5-year-old boy using a bathroom in a California Starbucks came upon a hidden cellphone. Its camera was rolling.
His mother said that the child had made the discovery at around 10.30am Thursday at a Starbucks branch which was located near Avenue K and 10th Street West in Lancaster.
The woman explained that her son had already used the single-occupancy restroom first. She followed after he was done.
She started to get worried when she noticed the boy staring at the sink with a confused look on his face.
‘He said, “Mommy, why is there a phone under there?”‘ the unnamed Starbucks customer told the station KTLA. ‘My skin kinda began to crawl.” This is looking bad…
When the women took a closer look, she saw a cellphone that was supported by paper towels, with the camera facing the toilet.
The mother spoke to a Starbucks employees of her find, before leaving the shop.
Sheriff’s deputies who were called to the shop confirmed that the device was indeed recording video as the mother had suspected. Disgusting.
She described the incident a ‘violation of privacy.’
There is no information regarding the length of time the phone had been recording video and the destination the video feed was being sent; hopefully the owner of the device can be tracked down to face justice.
‘Our store partners took swift action as soon as they became aware of the incident by immediately alerting the Sheriff’s Department of the situation,’ the company representative concluded.
