Medical marijuana is legal in 20 states and the District of Columbia, but there are still use cases that are very controversial, like medical marijuana for children. Some claim it’s a wonder drug for epilepsy, severe autism, and even to quell the harsh side effects of chemotherapy, while others decry pumping marijuana into still-growing bodies. We went to the small town of Pendleton, Oregon, where medical marijuana is legal, to visit Mykayla Comstock, an eight-year-old leukemia patient who takes massive amounts of weed to treat her illness. Her family, and many people we met along the way, believe not only in the palliative aspects of the drug, but also in marijuana’s curative effect—that pot can literally shrink tumors.

i really couldnt advocate mary jane for kids except when the medical benefit clearly outweighs the common side effects such as memory loss, paranoia and an increased tendency to schizoid behaviour
if you look into it more before you comment the psychoactive ingredients that cause paranoia memory loss as you say have been removed from the tincture this is natures cure for alot of problems so do a little more research before you state it causes problems it does not
(schizoid behavior) ? Smh. I am not bashing you in any manner . But you need to educate yourself. Cannabis has no chemical in it what so ever that would make a human go into a schizophrenic state of mind. The two main chemicals in cannabis is THC and CBD. Which if you do your research is chemicals that is already produced by our body’s with out even touching the plant. The reason people get a euphoria state of mind is because when cannabis is consumed it raises the THC and CBD levels in our brains . Which in turn raises or feel good receptors. Any one who believes that cannabis will make you react in a schizophrenic manner is still feeding into the early 1900’s reefer madness. I hope you look into it more and find the truth. Just don’t look for the answers on Wikipedia or a random (.com) site. Look on Google scholar or other reputable site’s. My experience is one of not only personal but I am a Junior in college currently getting my Bachelor’s Degree in psychology for addictions.
Well said, Mr. Webster.
I smoke cannabis daily, and do agree with your points. But I am someone who will suffer from extreme paranoia through smoking cannabis. Now I’m not saying it makes you paranoid, more h’s it magnifies any already existing condition. Which I do have. This is partly why the stigma is still there today. Because if stoned the likely hood of me suffering from paranoia is greater and the severity of this paranoia is also much higher. With in recent years I’ve learnt thought techniques to pull myself out of the vicious circle. So now can smoke it with less worries. But I’m sure there have been times you have been so stoned that social interaction becomes nigh on impossible. Plus the aspect of it being illegal, is obviously going to increase people unease while smoking or possessing it.
Plus excessive use can deplete these receptors in your brain, meaning when your mind next ask for a release there isn’t, leading to depression, which in turn leads to paranoia. I don’t blame the cannabis, but society for not teaching us the correct ways to deal with our emotions and thought processes, allowing something as brilliant as cannabis to be misused
Probably wouldnt be so paranoid if marijuana wasnt illegal and it was just another herb.
It’s the overproduction of dopamine, the feel good stuff, that causes hyperactivity of certain area’s of the brain, which in some people leads to paranoia. But it depends on the person. I knew a girl who would totally flip after one joint, thinking we were gonna kill her. It’s the same as when you open your chakras.. you either go crazy or you can handle it. And it’ll be pretty clear the first time around.
There is correlation in the statistics, but not necessarily causation, when it comes to mary jane use and schizophrenia. This is in a large part due to the fact that most anti-psychotics are dopamine inhibitors. I.e. they decrease the effect of dopamine in the brain. This makes most people feel depressed, dumbed down. Those who know the effect of mary jane are more prone to use more mary jane to compensate for the lack of dopamine. Hence why many schizo’s smoke weed, comparatively.
A whole other theory is that weed opens you up for telepathy, and the voices in your head are actually the thoughts of others. This would be enough reason for paranoia. Most people don’t say what they think, ever.. we would be shocked to hear the unfiltered thoughts of others.
A third theory is weed opens you up for demons. And it’s the trickery of the demons that makes you go crazy.
Pick one. But it remains a subjective experience. Personally I can deal with demons, the thoughts of other people and the rush of additional dopamine perfectly, because I am a god, and so are you, but you forgot about that. 😉
I like your theories
I dont know what to think, and now have to look into it
If u believe in Nature and realize that u a part of it, then u do not have to think of anything elze… thiz life iz a gift and so doez everything elze… Good day ma brotherzzz & sisterzzz
I think you need to believe in a dictionary.
Firstly, eating THC is NOT the same as smoking it. The metabolic pathways are completely different. Therefore, the THC is metabolized from delta-9, THC becomes 11-hydroxy-THC. Among other things, this allows it to pass the blood/brain barrier more quickly.
As someone who has done both many times, the high that you feel after eating marijuana is so intense that it would be physically impossible to smoke enough to achieve that effect.
So do you think there are any adverse effects on kids using this route? I understand how sick chemo makes a person and that she is on chemo but also taking the medical Marijuana. Its amazing how well this little girl is doing.
A mi hija le diagnosticaron LEUCEMIA MIELOIDE AGUDA. Hoy lleva su segundo di de quimioterapia. quisiera info sobre las propiedades de la cannabis sobre èsta enfermedad y el tratamiento. muchas gracias
Compare Marijuana to the use of drugs that a doctor subscribed mostly based off a sale point or personal interest not actually knowing the effects of the drug they are agreeing to. So the Morphine didn’t work let’s try something else said the doctor. As for the illusion that getting high makes you paranoid… anxiety and paranoia were already there you just amplified the feeling you already have. Same as with Alcohol that clearly only brings out what you were already feeling. You don’t’ become a rapist by drinking a beer. You were always that way and chose to act on it. Don’t blame the substance. Look in the mirror and blame yourself and ask for help.
Pure grown marijuana has the opposing chemicals actions of -tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). Sadly many forms of modern mixed compounds of marijuana that people buy now have an inbalance and this is what causes harm !!! As always mother nature has the solutions so don’t mess with it !!!
So stupid..ill kids become morphine and other hard stuff. They will get damaged and physically dependent.
