An invitation has been sent to Kim Jong Un of North Korea to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Soviet defeat over Nazi Germany, confirms the Kremlin.
Putin has extended his invitation to the North Korean leader, and it is said that this will be Kim Jong Un’s first international visit since 2011, when he took over leadership of the country. But Putin may also have some ulterior motives behind the invite, with his intentions to extend the Gazprom line through North Korea to its Southern counterpart.
But it’s a two way street for North Korea who is also seeking support from Russia as a member of the UN security council as they face the possibility of trial in the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity. Russia has permanent veto power on the council. The UN council has also called to re-examine North Korea’s capacity for nuclear weaponry, but according to Reuters, North Korea is ready to discuss their nuclear program on an international level again. What really bothers me is how the Obama Administration is to much in a rush for sanctions and the threatening for war.
