A city in the United States has re-elected its former mayor who was arrested and sentenced to nine years in jail on multiple corruption charges.
According to local media reports, 43-years-old Joseph Ganim had been the mayor of Connecticut’s largest city, Bridgeport for 12 years before he was brought before the court of law for criminal misconduct in 2003. Ganim before his arrest was a professional trained lawyer with a license.
He was subsequently convicted by a Federal Court On March 19, 2003 of 16 counts of criminal misconduct, including racketeering, extortion, bribery, tax evasion and mail fraud.
According to law experts, Ganim initially faced a possible sentence of up to 126 years, $500,000 in restitution, and $4 million in fines. But strangely, federal prosecutors asked for a sentence of ten years and one month. Prosecutors claimed they received many testimonials seeking leniency including one from the former Catholic Bishop of Bridgeport, Cardinal Edward M. Egan. Cardinal Egan later became the Archbishop Emeritus of New York before his death on March 5, 2015.
Therefore, acting on all these manipulations from the clergy and investigators, federal judge, Janet Bond Arterton sentenced Ganim to nine years in prison for “systematically using his office to enrich himself.”
The Free Thought Project reports that since his sentence was under ten years, Ganim was able to serve out his punishment in a federal camp, where conditions are far less restrictive than an actual prison.
And after serving only seven of the nine years of his sentence, Ganim was signed out of the Watkinson Halfway House in Hartford for the final time on July 19, 2010.
After finally getting out of jail, he quickly launched an operation to regain his law license. It was even revealed that he had local attorneys who recommended him to be readmitted to the bar.
However, in September 2012, a three-judge panel of Connecticut Superior Court judges rejected the recommendation, writing that: “Allowing an applicant to be readmitted to the practice of law following a conviction on 16 counts of racketeering, conspiracy, extortion, mail fraud, bribery and filing false income tax returns without any apology, expression of remorse, or explanation, and with only a vague acceptance of an unspecified event, simply would set the bar for readmission too low in the state, and we are unwilling to do that.”
He appealed again to the Court in 2014, but the judges unanimously ruled against his application, bringing an end to his effort of getting his law license restored.
But he had further plans. In March 2015, he contested for the office of the mayor of Bridgeport. And on December 1, 2015, he was sworn into office as the mayor of the city for the second time after winning a landslide victory, unseating the incumbent Bill Finch.
The Free thought Project furiously states that this case epitomizes the problem with American politics and the blind citizens who act as fuel for this corrupt and murderous machine.
The activist media cites South park’s classic 2004 season in which it was pointed of that Americans only have the illusion of choice when it comes to electing their rulers. 99 times out of a hundred, the election is between a Giant Douche and a Turd Sandwich. You can watch the video of the South Park’s story below.
Some observers say the citizens of Bridgeport voted for the Giant Douche over the Turd Sandwich, or vice versa. Others also say it is just idiocracy. Do you agree? What is your opinion? Share it with us.

I think that is a clear sign of your vote don’t matter. Elections are rigged, a higher government has all candidates picked out based on who is willing to help their agenda, laws that are pointless to fill their for profit prisons, and rape their own people. Basically whoever has the dick down their throat furthest is your new electee.
How can he even get elected after being in jail? No way. America doesn’t vote, they just make you think you do. Do America a favor in 2016 Dont vote. And stop being part of the problem by being in ANY of the parties.
