It’s no secret that Ben & Jerry’s has marketed their ice cream to the weed crowd for years. With flavor names like Cherry Garcia, Half-Baked, and Hazed & Confused, it is obvious that the founders of the ice cream behemoth – Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield – are not virgins to cannabis culture. It now appears those flavor names could take on a new literal meaning.
Speaking with HuffPost Live, Ben & Jerry said that they are very open to the idea of creating and selling a cannabis-infused ice cream, when it is completely legal to do so.
“Makes sense to me,” Cohen said bluntly. “Combine your pleasures.”
Greenfield appeared a bit more apprehensive but was still open to the idea.
“Ben and I have had previous experiences with substances, and I think legalizing marijuana is a wonderful thing,” he said. “It’s not my decision. If it were my decision, I’d be doing it, but fortunately we have wiser heads at the company that figure those things out.”
Cannabis Creamery, an ice cream manufacturer based in Richmond, California already makes a marijuana-infused ice cream for medicinal cannabis prescription holders.
Realize that Ben & Jerry’s is now owned by Unilever…same people that make soap.
