Do Scientologists Control Hollywood?

Is Scientology support waning in Hollywood? According to a clip by Alltime Conspiracies, their analysis of the highs and lows of the cult-like religion displays that though they are well known, actors involved with Scientology, and movies made with Scientology undertones aren’t well received.

The clip comes at a time when the world has witnessed once important members turn their back on a lifestyle that most brand as oppressive. Leah Remini is one such actress who dared to criticize the church as corrupt, after almost a lifetime of membership. Nicole Kidman’s public crucifixion by means of ex-communication is also well documented.  The rants’ of Tom Cruise only served to damage the group. But what of the talk in Hollywood about “if you want someone reliable for the job you need to get a Scientologist?”

Alltime Conspiracies gives thought to this matter, and weighs it up against the more recent Hollywood flops of all time, funded and perpetuated by Scientologists to perhaps ‘spread the word.’ In 2000, John Travolta invested millions of his own dollars into the movie “Battlefield Earth.”  The movie was based on a novel by its founder, L. Ron Hubbard, but has been branded as one of the biggest movie flops of all time. Wil Smith’s movie “After Earth” also suffered similar reception in 2013. The need for Hollywood producers to procure the Church of Scientology’s support appears to be thin at best.

So do Scientologists rule Hollywood?  Major studios refused to finance Travolta’s film yet on the other side, Scientology operates eight churches which are designated as ‘celebrity centres’ – the largest of which is based in Hollywood. Even so, with symbolism used in the cinema and the large celebrity population in the church, Scientology, it is suggested, is but a cult that seems to be falling into popular disfavor.
