FossBytes has reported that it has come across a fake website that claims to be part of the American multinational technology company specialized in Internet-related services and products: Google.
The website is said to be accessible on Betagoogle.com, and looks just the same as the search engine of Google. It is said when a user starts to use the search engine, it will tell the user that it is capable of telling future events and other hidden lifestyles traits of the user.
However, after the user has typed something in the search engine and hits enter, it does not show the user any fortune-telling results. Instead, the site reveals its actual purpose: to help refugees.
This is what happens when users try to use the search engine to find out their future:
As the user types the very first letter, the Google Fortune-telling website automatically fills the box with this question: “Where can I find a safe place?” Are you confused? Well, take a look at further suggestions like “Will I be reunited with my family?” “Is there a place where I can give my children a safe future?” and more.
After the user clicks the “Predict my future” button, a page which reveals the fake website’s real purpose is opened. It says in bold letters: “OF COURSE WE CAN’T PREDICT YOUR FUTURE!”
It then presents the user with some statistics that are related to the people who are fleeing from war and poverty in their various countries. The site then goes on to inform the user that they can help these refugees.
“But 60 million refugees ask themselves every day if they have a future at all. So we used a fake Google-site to get your attention because apparently you were interested in your own future. Please take a moment to think of their future,” it says.
It thereafter encourages the user to engage in the donation activities in order to help these people build a decent life in whichever country they have fled to.

FossBytes noted that the fake website was created by a Netherlands-based web design company, and is not affiliated with Google. The website’s primary goal was to get people to help the refugees who are fleeing from instability in their countries. According to people who have followed the website, the search engine has made lots of people in Europe realize the plight of refugees. Reportedly, some people have used the platform to help some refugees.
