It’s not every day that the charade of civility between politicians gets torn down. It’s even rarer when close “allies” start bickering; it’s often not until leaving politics altogether when politicians start speaking frankly about their counterparts. Which is why when Germany’s ex-finance minister, Oskar Lafontaine, criticized the US’s stance towards Russia and Ukraine, you sit up and take notice… and wonder if perhaps the Germans hadn’t been quite so willing to forgive( take it up the arse) American spying on( blackmailing) their own Chancellor…
“Fuck the US-Imperialism” – US-“Verteidigungs-” also -Kriegsminister in BerlinDer US-Kriegsminister ruft die Europäer…

Although the lengthy post was mostly written in German, four English words stand out… and certainly can’t be interpreted in any other way. I, for one, can sympathize with the man having used a variation of the phrase several times myself.
Calling on the entire EU to oppose the US, he called US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter the “Secretary of War” (let’s face it, America is probably the only country which crosses that line between defense and war so often as to make the distinction quite meaningless), and Washington’s policies “imperialism.”
“The US Secretary of War calls on Europeans to confront the Russian ‘aggression’,” Lafontaine stated. “The Europeans have every reason to oppose the US aggression.”
Reccently, Ashton Carter had visited Tallinn where he pledged to provide 250 tanks and armored vehicles to EU nations on Russia’s border. Funny, I don’t see Russian-made tanks being sent to Mexico… How is Russia the aggressor?
The German ex-finance minister then went on to cite George Kennan, who had previously served as US ambassador to the Soviet Union: Kennan had “described the eastward expansion of NATO as the biggest mistake of the US foreign policy after the Second World War,” Lafontaine stated, “because they have resulted in a new Cold War.”
“The US diplomat Victoria Nuland said, we have spent more than five billion dollars to destabilize Ukraine,” Lafontaine states, referring to the amount that the US had invested in constructing “democratic institutions” in democratic Ukraine. Seriously, if Ukraine were anything LESS than truly democratic, I doubt the US would have been able to do these things.
Lafontaine also brings the reader’s attention back to a certain leaked phone call where Nuland had said “f**k the EU” to the US ambassador in Kiev, and concludes: “You continue to play with fire, and Europe has paid with revenue declines in trade with Russia and the loss of jobs … We need a European foreign policy that restrains the warmongering US imperialism!”
It seems that the EU has extended anti-Russian sanctions for another 6 months at America’s behest, despite the lack of any good reason. Studies have shown that these sanctions are hurting the EU’s economy more than anticipated- 2.5 MILLION jobs will be lost; a double-win for America when not one but TWO rivals (seriously, if your politicians are being spied on to such an extent, and are thus open to blackmail, do you REALLY believe that the US sees you as a “friend”?) get hurt economically… Now to pressure them into bombing each other into the Stone Age… together with China of course.
