According to two protestors claiming to be from the “Anonymous” movement, police had prevented them from wearing the well-known Guy Fawkes Mask as they entered the Oklahoma statehouse.
Tulsa World had reported that Michael, the name given by one of the men, said that the police had told him that a new rule banned the masks, but was unable or unwilling to reveal anything further.
It would seem that certain lawmakers are pushing for an amendment to a law against wearing masks or hoodies while committing a crime, extending it to cover all other aspects of day-to-day behavior with the exception of certain events like Halloween or parades. This amounts to a complete ban on public disguises.
The bill has not yet been passed or signed into law. It was reportedly in response to a demonstration by Anonymous members last year at the Capital, which had apparently caused some alarm among legislators and their staff. How unexpected.
Known as the “hoodie ban” because it had only appeared to ban hooded sweatshirts from being worn in public, the amendment would extend to any intentional attempt at disguising one’s identity in public. This would apply even if the person had not caused any harm or wrong-doing.
This measure is still apparently up for debate, but makes an exception for holiday celebrations, religious observance, safety or medical purposes and certain miscellaneous activities such as mascots.
In fear of retaliation, “Michael” had declined to provide his last name. He admits that he and his friend had been “mouthy” but were not a threat to anyone.
A representative for Anonymous, Joanna Francisco, said at a Libertarian Party event that the bill posed a threat to the right of Americans to anonymity.
Passed in its current state, violators would face a fine of between $50 and $500 and troublingly could even be jailed for a year.
Jail for wearing a hoodie…..
America’s getting more and more retarded.
yup
I agree with you Bob. i wonder how much longer it will take them to ban hats and sunglasses because it ALSO obscures facial recognition.
I also see coming a general ban of all clothing, for it obscuring body recognition
After banning clothing they will ban bodily hair all bushy women will be jailed as terrorists.
eventually they’re just going to plant tracking devices on all of us and make it illegal to use the internet for anything that’s not government specified. we need to stop this bullshit and take back our freedom before it’s too late.
They will have to take my Hat and my Sunglasses from my cold dead body
Its one fucking reason so government can spy on ya.
They don’t care about the hoodies, its the masks. A real protester who understands and believes in their cause, wears NO mask. Cheats and thieves, wear masks to hide identity. Also FUN FACTS: Anonomyus wouldn’t have anyone more then a mindless toolbag actually showup to anything in public. That’s the entire point of that movement, not to be tied to individual people but to a common cause (which is not fighting for masks and hoodies you morons). These retards are pretending to be part of a movement they blatantly aren’t in (or are cannon fodder for AT BEST) and cause a stink about not wearing a mask. Real Anons. doesn’t give a damn about the mask, BECAUSE THEY ARE NEVER SEEN…THEY ARE HACKERS FFS I absolutely hate our government. Nothing but corrupt, immoral, selfish, useless, hypocritical assholes.
TL:DR
These kids aren’t in Anon, because they had identities (do your research). This article does NOTHING TO PROVE how bad our gov’t is, but the replies prove how bad our people are.
Please read V for Vendetta.
I hope they do realize passing this will result in consequences, or it’s going to hurt them more.
Wasn’t this thrown out later on?
What are these ‘lawmakers’ afraid of?
they are afraid of the one ring
Is this going to be a federal or state law?
So where would the burka fit in this new “law”?
Great point. I’m sure there are enough anon for it to claim religious grounds making exempt to law the belief system behind the mask. But instead of potential oppression, unity.
What about those of us who wear balaclavas when its freezing out?
this is just one more step in the direction of a Totalitarian Regime, which we are heading for very quickly… We the people need to throw out this whole thing, it hasn’t been working and yet we keep trying over and over again while just sticking our heads further and further into the sand along the way. Agenda 21 is coming for you, your mom, your grandparents, all the children, and the world as we know it. Look around, it’s everywhere. But see there’s something we can do about this, because after all our heads aren’t buried in concrete just sand. Wake up world, take a step in the RIGHT direction and ALWAYS make the BEST decision. And before you know it, we will be on the fast track to re-claiming our world and ourselves for ourselves and all of the beautiful creatures and natural systems we depend on to survive. -Anonomous And Anxious
Fuck the system
Did I really see the phrase “Representative for Anonymous” in that article? Can we all just reflect for a moment on how ridiculous that is?
Congress will never pass that bill, if they do im sure the president will veto it
How can I help out with anything? I’m 15 in California and want to help out in any big movement. I’m interested in a movement that i can help out with. I want to get involved in a big event.
James Pintor-Luna the whole point of this is that it’s a movement, not an organization. there are no higher ups, there are no leaders. nobody calls the shots except YOU. if you want to help, remove yourself from the public record, buy a brand new computer, and hack proof it. (and i mean really hack proof it) get on TORRE and start doing shit. you’ll have to wait for the call from your fellow anons. but first you need to learn code language, you’ll need to spend hundreds of hours learning before you’ll be ready to take on the bad guys. just wanted to let you know that there’s nobody out there to take orders from, no one is going to answer your questions, nobody’s going to give you a rank and tell you what to do. IT’S ALL UP TO YOU. love, TAINT
and by the way, if you make your age/identity/location public you can never be part of anonymous. there’s no place for fools who get themselves caught. you could go to jail for supporting this cause, or worse. our government is pure evil. you need to remember to be afraid of them and what they can do. that’s all. – TAINT
So much for land of the free
//A representative for Anonymous, Joanna Francisco, said at a Libertarian Party event that the bill posed a threat to the right of Americans to anonymity.//
Yet again, the Libertarian Party seems to know whats up.
This source of news is definitely less reputable than Fox news at every turn, and that is hard to accomplish. If you are going to make a claim that there is a new law banning someshit somewhere and that somedude somewhere was fucked by somelaw that somehow just came into being somehow— GIVE US THE FUCKIN’ INFO. If you are pulling shit out of your ass or spouting shit you don’t know anything about you are doing this movement a disservice. SHUT YOUR FUCKING IGNORANT MOUTH. If there is validity to your claim in any specific place let’s talk about it. If constitutional rights are being overstepped somewhere tell us where so we can act on it. Also PROOFREAD! If you can not spell or have a minimal aptitude for reading please recognize your short comings. Certainly you know some person who can read and/or spell. Have them help you. Anonymous is all of us and none of us, but if you are not intelligent enough to represent yourself well you certainly shouldn’t try to represent anyone else regardless of their anonymity. You can do more harm than good by broadcasting inaccurate or fabricated bullshit. Let us not be like the Scientologists.
“some law somewhere”. OK, this is from Thom Hartmann, whatever be your opinion of him. It seems that, these days, laws come into being without being passed by a Congress or state legislature, but merely because some law enforcement agency, the DEA for example, wants to create a profile. So their latest profile is for drug dealers. There are several parts to it, but what I remember is that if you have more than one cell phone in you car, or if you are wearing designer clothing in your car, you fit the profile and they can TAKE your car – and not just impound it, but FORFEIT it. without arrest or probable cause for arrest. Consider that next time you are out somewhere.”Constitutional rights?” I would say so.

there, details states that are pursuing or have brought to bear this action. Time Magazine Legit enough for ya?
It’s the mask that’s the problem, not the hoodie. I don’t understand how so many people see this as a problem. If you wear a mask to a statehouse, you’re either A) About to break some serious laws or B) Retarded. Either way you shouldn’t be in there. Anyone verified as an “anonomys” member is actually a complete loser crying for attention and desperately needs some mental help. The “real deal” you will never see or hear from, until they are ready. This is some retard kids with masks from walmart trying to be big.
when they found ten dead cops or dead police in street well they can remove any kind of bad law
FUCK THE U.S THE STUPID FOR THE SE THING THEN TAKEN THE U.S TO A HOLD NEW LEVEL WHAT HAPPEN TO THE FREEDOM THAT THIS country was founded on
I maybe a short little sassy fat old lady, but by God, I am pulling up my hood, pulling on my mask and heading to the Rez. Going to visit my peeps on the Osage rez in OK. Screw this bullshit!
America is becoming more and more a police state. Glad I’m in Canada. 😀
Canada. Sister of the Spangled Banner. Other than healthcare being free (it isn’t “free”) and the bad snow storm. It isn’t very different from the United States of Lies. Do research friend.
Relogious items are excepted.
Anonymous is your religion then, and the mask is a piece of religious dress.
One of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. Know what I use the hood on my Hoodia for? If it’s raining or my head and neck are cold. I would LOVE to see them try and tell me I can’t wear it. Civil liberties lawsuits, here we come. If I choose to wear my hood up, it’s none of (the law or lawmakers) darn business. Ridiculous, is all I can say. :\
Fuck that noise man

I used to be a professional clown and ran my own business, I would go about my daily business between gigs or after gigs. I was always in full makeup and costume. The only time I had a feeling of discomfort about it was using my bank’s ATM at night and a police officer came into the lobby where the machine was. I could feel him go on high alert. I completed my business and left. I never, ever had a problem banking or shopping at any other time.
Yes, if someone is disguising themselves to commit violence, I think the weapons are a give away.
Going to jail for wearing a hoodie in public? Aren’t the American jails already overcrowded? now that Marijuana is becoming legalized, how many people are still carrying jail sentences for having Marijuana on their person? How many people in America do you actually believe will conform to this? It won’t be any different from the cell phone laws; you can only catch just so many “offenders” when everyone is participating.
law is already applied other places https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtwUCNRZU5Y
Ignorance is everywhere, friends.
