FBI is warning journalists in the USA to be on a high alert after getting trustworthy information showing ISIS terrorists looking to murder American media members both in the U.S. and abroad, listing them along with other high-impact targets.
Kieran Ramsey, assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s Boston Division, stated:-
We shouldn’t be surprised that they would look to perhaps other public figures, such as people in the media, that could create the kind of sensationalized impact that unfortunately we’re seeing all over the place right now,
While we have no specific intelligence to indicate that there is a threat here … it should come as no surprise to anybody as to their intentions.
On 13rd October the bulletin warned that:-
Members of an (ISIS)-affiliated group are tasked with kidnapping journalists in the region and returning them to Syria.
And it also oriented an Islamic State Internet post from September 16 which identified journalists, TV anchors, talk show hosts, news broadcasters, correspondents on the ground and other media operatives as desirable targets.
The bulletin also alerted that members of this group might try to mask their affiliation with (ISIS) to gain access to journalists, a warning GlobalPost CEO Philip Balboni mentioned he isn’t taking it lightly.
Balboni told the Herald 23 October of the beheadings:-
I’m not surprised, they obviously don’t like journalists, as evidenced by the terrible things they’ve already done to Jim Foley and Steven Sotloff,
If they can strike here in America, I’m sure it would make them very happy. So I think we need to be careful, I think we all need to be careful.
Balboni, who tried to negotiate the release of Foley, a GlobalPost reporter, before he was murdered by an Islamic State militant, said that steps have been taken to enhance security around his journalists working in Lebanon and Iraq.
Fred Burton, with StartFor, intelligence and security analysts, and an ex deputy chief of counterterrorism at the Diplomatic Security Service, stated that ISIS has demonstrated that it is a great danger to reporters oversees. He said stateside, the danger comes from lone-wolf terrorists same as the ones who are struck in Canada.
He said:-
It’s the aspirations of the outsider who can’t travel, but desires to be useful within the organization
The Fox News Channel mentioned in a statement that they are always careful on overseas assignments.
The station stated:-
We’ve been taking extra precautions for several years now, including added security when we went in and out of Damascus to speak with (Syrian President Bashar) Assad
CNN would not discuss the danger out of a sense of caution.
Edith Flynn, terrorism expert and professor emeritus at Northeastern University, stated that high-profile journalists have always been counted as prime targets for terror groups.
Flynn stated:-
Just the idea of killing a well-known news anchor would be very shocking,
Singling out a person of note would be considered a tremendous coup for them and I hope and pray it doesn’t happen.

Really?! Kinda makes a valid point, maybe a little more context would have explained the point better but its not hard to work out whats being said. Your an idiot for being so ignorant to the fact that the government are always trying to hide what they do, and with everything going on its hard to trust any of them, so why not assume there trying to hide something by scaring off the media? your an idiot for brushing the idea off with whats going on these days. I’m pretty sure a journalist knows what there risking just as much as any person that goes to those sort of places. At the same time though i don’t trust the media, they only tell you what they are allowed to tell you, brainwashers!
I have no idea whether it’s locals, or Americans, or American-paid locals killing journalists. Neither do any of you. The US were happy enough to kill thousands of their own people in New York, so they could get into Iraq and enforce martial law at home. Don’t imagine for a moment that they won’t kill many more Americans and Europeans to get what they want.
They desperately want us to fear Syria and Iran,and will do whatever they can to achieve this.

But I don’t understand. Reporters of Vice News media have time and again spoken gained free access to ISIS camps and have interviewed many of them.

Honestly we do not need a ground view of whats going on from our reporters.. If we want to know then start sending some Go-Pros to the area so that we can see through the eyes of our so called allies that keep handing the weapons we give them over to this cancer. Don’t send anymore reporters and we’ll be fine as long as we keep our distance with the air-support. That is my view, some may want to get reporters to rush to the area for an easy grab. Watch out..
If you follow the money (that ISIS used at the start), you’ll end up in Saudi Arabia, Qatar,… So, it would be 10 times better for the region if they used their military force. This would send a good message to the world and would allow to use Arab journalists too (real embedded journalism). This would open up the information highway I think and make western journalists less of a target.
Interesting. Reporters on the ground should always be aware, but I find it telling that perveyors of misinformation funded by Corporate America and the US Government should suddenly be targets of lone wolf terrorist attacts.
It is well within the realms of possibility that the US could be behind the beheadings of journalists.
They had no qualms about killing thousands of Americans in New York in 2001, and were happy to let their people die in Benghazi in 2012. They want people to fear and hate the people of the countries they want to pillage. They also appear to want martial law in their own country. So when you do get some news, please ask yourself “who benefits?”
