Assassin Disguised as Fed-Ex Shoots Son of Judge Handling Epstein & Deutsche Bank Case

0

The son of a federal judge has been shot dead and her husband critically wounded after they were attacked at their home by a gunman dressed as a FedEx driver.

The attack happened at the home of Esther Salas, 51, an Obama-appointed District Court judge, in North Brunswick, New Jersey, on Sunday evening.

The judge’s 20-year-old son Daniel Anderl was killed, and her defense attorney husband Mark Anderl, 63, was critically injured.

Daniel, who was the couple’s only child, is believed to have opened the door to the gunman at around 5pm. He was shot ‘in the heart’ immediately, according to friends of the family.

His father Mark was then shot several times when he went to the front door to see what had happened. The gunman fled.

Judge Esther Salas was in the basement of her home when the gunman arrived. Her 20-year-old son Daniel (far right) answered the door to the assailant, who was dressed as a FedEx driver, and was shot in the heart. His father Mark (center) went to the door to see what had happened and was shot multiple times. Mark is in the hospital in critical condition.

The judge and her family were the targets of an assassination attempt on Sunday evening at their home in North Brunswick Township, New Jersey. The house is pictured on Monday morning.

Judge Salas had recently been assigned to a civil financial fraud case tied to Jeffrey Epstein.

It was brought by Deutsche Bank investors who claim the bank made false and misleading statements about its anti-money laundering policies and failed to monitor ‘high-risk’ customers including convicted sex offender billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.

Earlier this month the bank agreed to pay a $150million fine for continuing to work with Epstein after he was convicted of soliciting underage prostitutes in 2008.

Judge Salas also sent TV stars Teresa and Joe Giudice from the Real Housewives of New Jersey to jail for tax evasion and fraud.

It’s unclear whether her husband is actively involved in any cases.

It remains unclear who the gunman was targeting. Daniel was the couple’s only child

Friends say she often made remarks about her job making her a target for attacks but that recently, she was not concerned.

‘As a judge, she had threats from time to time, but everyone is saying that recently there had not been any,’ Francis ‘Mac’ Womack, the mayor of North Brunswick, New Jersey, told The Washington Post.

‘She had some high-profile cases, and she was always a little concerned,’ Marion Costanza, who lives three doors down from the family, said.

Anderl was a prosecutor for 10 years before switching to private practice.

During his time in the prosecutor’s office, he tried more than 100 cases including 33 murder trials.  , said that Daniel was ‘shot through the heart’.Mark is reportedly in critical but stable condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick.

Judge Salas is believed to have been in the basement of the home during the shooting and was unharmed in the attack.

She and Daniel were close, neighbors said, and she was devastated when he moved away from home to go to college.

‘I think she cried for a week and that’s just in D.C. He was her only child,’ Costanza added.

She said Daniel was a good-natured boy who once brought her supplies during a snow storm.

‘There’s no one like them. They’re extremely good-natured. They would do anything for anyone,’ she said.

Another said: You don’t expect anything like this around here. We all know our neighbors, we all greet each other and it’s a quiet area.’

Crime scene tape could be seen stretching around the perimeter of the family home located in the Hiddlen Lake section of North Brunswick. The street had been closed off to traffic.

Salas staggered their sentences so that one of them could be available to take care of their four children.

In 2017, she barred federal prosecutors from seeking the death penalty against an alleged gang leader charged in several Newark slayings, ruling the man’s intellectual disability made him ineligible for capital punishment.

Salas later sentenced the man, the leader of the Newark Bloods street gang to 45 years in prison.

She has also dealt with cases involving members of the Grape Street Crips according to NJ.com. The case was connection with a long-running drug-trafficking network that was taken down by the FBI in 2015.

The daughter of a Cuban mother and a Mexican father, Judge Salas is well known in the community and often gives talks to school children and gives tours of the court

Judge Salas had received death threats in the past but as of Sunday night, authorities have not suggested the shootings are linked to any of her previous cases.

‘As a judge, she had threats from time to time, but everyone is saying that recently there had not been any,’ said Mayor Womack to ABC News, who is friends with the judge and her husband.

‘No words can express the sadness and loss we share tonight as a community after senseless shootings of the husband and son of USDC Judge Esther Salas,’ she said.

The mayor said investigators are now ‘trying to get a hard make on the vehicle’ to try and track the suspect.

‘We commit to do all we can to support the family in this time, as well as all law enforcement agencies involved,’ Womack said.

Reddit was also quick to analyze the situation.

The mayor noted how close the family appeared to be:

‘He’s a very very exuberant, vibrant, one hundred percent pleasant person,’ Womack said to CNN. ‘He loves to talk about his wife, and he loves to brag about his son, and how his son would excel in baseball, and how he was doing down in college in Washington … I’m just very sorry to see him going through this.’

The U.S. Marshals have also been called to provide the judge with a security detail, according to a law enforcement official.

Salas had sat a judge on the U.S. District Court for New Jersey in Newark, for nine years and was the first Hispanic woman to serve on the federal bench in the state.

Before that she spent five years as a magistrate judge, and nine years prior to that as a federal public defender before President Barack Obama nominated her to serve as a District Court Judge in 2010.

The daughter of a Cuban mother and a Mexican father, Salas spent part of her childhood on welfare after a fire destroyed her Union City apartment, according to The Globe.

Her husband, Mark Anderl also works in legal circles and served as an assistant prosecutor in Essex County, New Jersey for ten years before becoming a criminal defense attorney.

Salas met her husband when he was working as a prosecutor and she was working as a law school intern. He spotted her ‘getting fingerprinted’ and came over to talk to her, she told New Jersey Monthly in February 2018. ‘We’ve been inseparable since 1992,’ she said.

So far, police have not announced any arrests or named any suspects, however the FBI tweeted it was looking for ‘one subject’ in the shooting.

Anyone who thinks they may have relevant information should call the FBI in Newark at 973-792-3001.

Super ‘Heat Dome’ to Fry U.S. With Record Temperatures from 90F to 121F for Several Weeks

0

It was only to be expected that in an already brutal year, the summer of 2020 was going to be the absolute worst.

And now, it appears that a sizzling “heat dome” will be frying most of the continental United States for several weeks starting this weekend.

What this means is that over 80 percent of the U.S. population – encompassing 265 people – can expect sweltering heat over the next week with highs exceeding 90. Another 45 million people will be facing highs in the triple digits.

Additionally, we can expect a full season of lethal heat ranging from 90°F to 121°F, not to mention extreme tropical storms, wildfires, and extreme weather related to La Niña conditions, reports the Independent.

On Friday, the National Weather Service issued excessive heat watch alerts for “dangerously hot conditions” and forecast that between Friday and Tuesday, over 75 record high temperatures would be reached or exceeded, with heat expected to increase in the following week.

On Saturday, temperature in Las Vegas reached a sweltering 112°F with the temperature expected to increase to 114°F on Sunday, while in Phoenix temperatures hit 115°F with Sunday expected to bring a withering 116°F before coasting at or above 110°F through the next week.

The new extremes sharply raise the danger of heat-related illness and death, further adding to the woes of hospitals struggling with surging COVID-19 infections in hard-hit regions and states like Arizona, California, Nevada and Texas.

“The heat wave will be very long-lived, lasting multiple weeks in some areas with only a few days of near-normal temperatures during that span,” Jeff Masters, Ph.D. and founder of the popular site Weather Underground, told CBS News“This will increase the odds of heat illness and heat-related deaths.”

And for those who may be feeling a little bored sheltering at home, there could be some excitement in store for you in the form of thunderstorms in the Midwest and Northeast, hurricanes in the South, and wildfires in the Southwest and West Coast.

This less-than-good news comes as the east coast buckles down and braces itself for Tropical Storm Fay, which is set to thrash the New England region, deluge New York, and inundate parts of New Jersey with flash floods.

The news comes as many are already struggling to stay cool during the COVID-19 lockdown without air conditioning, or even the jobs and income to keep their AC units operational if they do have them.

Heat domes occur when the atmosphere keeps hot ocean air trapped as if it were under a lid or cap, with the end result being conditions of persistent high pressure and sustained heat for a prolonged period of time, sprawled over massive geographical regions.

To make matters worse, the larger the heat dome becomes, the hotter and more longer-lasting it will be.

According to a team of National Ocean Services researchers who set up the Modeling, Analysis Predictions and Projections program to figure out why heat domes occur, they found that the primary cause was strong changes in ocean temperatures from west to east in the tropical Pacific Ocean during the prior winter.

“This happens when strong, high-pressure atmospheric conditions combine with influences from La Niña, creating vast areas of sweltering heat that get trapped under the high-pressure ‘dome’,” the ocean service said.

Warnings of the brutal heat dome come one day after the NWS issued a La Niña watch Thursday predicting a 50 to 55 percent chance that the phenomenon would develop in the coming months, ensuring an intensification of the Atlantic hurricane season and a growing number of hurricanes and tropical storms.

Like A Thriller Movie: Ghislaine Maxwell Is Moved From “Cell To Cell” To Prevent Assassins From Killing Her

0

Former Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell is said to have evidence that shows powerful world leaders being involved in crimes against children, and concerns are growing that her life could be in danger.

At the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, where Maxwell arrived last Monday, the staff has taken extreme measures to prevent an assassination or suicide from happening on their watch.

At first, Maxwell’s clothes were taken away, and she was forced to wear paper gowns as a precaution, so she didn’t have any materials that she could use to hang herself with.

She was later allowed to wear normal prison clothes and is now no longer considered a suicide risk, but authorities are still concerned about her safety. She is being moved from cell to cell in an attempt to prevent potential assassins from knowing where she is.

A source told the Daily Mail that, “She is being moved from cell to cell and sometimes has a cellmate, sometimes not. [The authorities] are terrified someone will try to kill her so they keep moving her around. Jeffrey Epstein died behind bars and they [the authorities] are terrified someone will try to kill Ghislaine.”

There are also concerns that a coronavirus outbreak at the prison could take her life.

Conditions are terrible at the jail and there’s an outbreak of Covid which could kill her. It’s impossible for her to talk to her lawyers or family in a timely way. How can she prepare a defence when the lawyers can’t even get hold of her?” the source said.

As The Mind Unleashed previously reported, Maxwell is in COVID isolation and hoping to be released on bail because of the virus. However, it is doubtful that isolation from a virus of this nature is possible at a facility like this, especially with her being moved from cell to cell so frequently.

Maxwell and Epstein had many powerful friends, but once Epstein was arrested, those friends likely began to see the pair as a liability. A former jewel thief that had a business relationship with Epstein and a sexual relationship with Maxwell claims that they made him watch videos where he saw at least two prominent US politicians sexually assaulting underage girls.

Earlier this week, a lawyer for Epstein victims said that Prince Andrew is on the secret stash of recordings that Maxwell plans to use as a bargaining tool to get a reduced prison sentence.

‘There is no doubt Prince Andrew would have been captured on footage filmed in rooms and private areas of Epstein’s property,” attorney David Boies said.

On Sunday, Boies told The Mail that, “We know there were cameras throughout the New York mansion and in Epstein’s other properties. We know there were a multitude of cameras and very large quantities of tapes. Prince Andrew would have been included. He would certainly have been included among the people who would have been captured on the tapes.”

At this point, it is highly possible that any evidence that Maxwell had against her former friends is already in the hands of investigators.

The Black Death: Chinese Authorities on High Alert as Bubonic Plague Case Confirmed

0

People with high fever and sudden deaths will come under greater scrutiny under public health measures.

Chinese authorities in the country’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have raised a level-three warning for epidemic control after a case of bubonic plague, the disease that caused the Black Death pandemic, was confirmed.

The alarm comes after a local herdsman was suspected to have the case over the weekend after being admitted to the people’s hospital in Urad Middle Banner in Bayannur City, reports state-run Chinese state news outlet CGTN.

The patient is now under quarantine and is in stable condition.

The level-three warning for plague control and prevention is the second-lowest in a four-level system and will remain in effect until the end of 2020, according to a municipal commission.

Under the public health measures, people have been urged to boost their personal protective measures to prevent the plague from spreading between people. Additionally, the hunting and eating of wild animals have been banned.

“At present, there is a risk of a human plague epidemic spreading in this city. The public should improve its self-protection awareness and ability, and report abnormal health conditions promptly,” the local health authority said.

People with high fever and sudden deaths will come under greater scrutiny under public health measures.

Authorities are also calling on citizens of the region to report any sick or dead marmots or other animals that they may come across. Marmots are a type of large ground squirrel traditionally eaten in some parts of China and in the neighboring country Mongolia, and have historically been the cause of plague outbreaks in the region.

The marmot is believed to have been the cause of the 1911 pneumonic plague epidemic that claimed the lives of 63,000 people in northeast China, reports CNN. At the time, the marmot was hunted for its fur, which was in high demand among international traders. As a result of the trade in diseased fur, thousands across the country were infected.

During the Middle Ages, the bubonic plague or “Black Death” reached global pandemic proportions, ravaging the populations of Asia, Europe and Africa and resulting in upwards of 100 million deaths.

Historians estimate that it reduced the population of Europe by about two-thirds, with the population in England in 1400 falling to around half of what it had been a century earlier and around 1,000 villages being depopulated or totally disappearing.

The bubonic plague is caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis. Unlike the coronavirus, the disease is a result of bacterial infection.

If patients are given antibiotics within the first 24 hours of infection, they are likely to survive the ordeal. However, in the absence of antibiotics the virus can lead to a painful, grueling and prolonged death.

Indeed, the advent of antibiotics has largely helped to prevent the virulent plague outbreaks of the past. However, modern medicine has still not proven capable of totally eliminating the plague – leading the World Health Organization to categorize it as a re-emerging disease. Roughly 1,000 to 2,000 people get the plague every year, although the true number is expected to be far larger when accounting for unreported cases.

About seven cases of the bubonic plague are reported on average every year in the United States, usually in rural zones of western states, reports New York Times

The bubonic plague becomes far more virulent and deadly after it mutates into the pneumonic plague, which is the only form of the disease capable of person-to-person transmission through respiratory droplets released through coughing and sneezing.

While the bubonic plague has a 30- to 60-percent death rate if untreated, pneumonic plague fatality rates are much higher and approach nearly a 100-percent rate.

Last November, the same region of Inner Mongolia was also the scene of a pneumonic plague outbreak.

India Orders Its Military To Be Ready For War With China As Precaution If Negotiations Go Sour

India told its armed forces to make emergency procurements to stock up war reserves in the wake of escalating conflict with China.

India told its armed forces on Monday to make emergency procurements to stock up its war reserves in the wake of escalating conflict with China along the Line Of Actual Control (LAC), which is the long disputed border between India and China. In addition, the India Navy has also been given the go-ahead to deploy its assets near the Malacca Strait, and, if needed, anywhere else in the Indo-Pacific to counter the Chinese, the India Economic Times reported.

This follows the first bloody conflict between the two Asian powers for the first time in 40 years with the killing of dozens of troops from India and China along a contested border of both countries in the Himalayas. The situation spurred after a failed diplomatic meeting in Galwan River valley, which is in the Himalayas region of Ladakh.

The Times of India corroborated the Economic Times claims, stating that Indian forces are in a “warlike alert.” The Indian Air Force (IAF) is also seeking a go-ahead to purchase 33 fighter aircrafts from Russia, according to reports. These will include 12 Sukhoi 30 MKI and 21 Mig-19 fighter jets.

TMU previously reported that both countries counterparts Wang Yi and Indian diplomat Subrahmanyam Jaishankar have now discussed the situation via a phone call with both coming to an agreement that the conflict needs to “cool down.”

While things have thus far calmed down according to China, India is still on alert for potential war responses. Hindustan Times also reports that China has begun cyberattacks against Indian infrastructure including government information websites and financial services like ATMs.

China stated the overall situation was “stable and controllable,” on Thursday through its Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian.

“We believe that guided by the important consensus reached between the two leaders, China and India can properly deal with the current situation, jointly uphold peace and stability in the border areas, and ensure a sound and steady development of bilateral relations,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said at a press briefing.

Lijian added, the two sides are in close communication on solving the problems via diplomatic and military channels, the spokesperson told reporters.

“As the world’s two largest developing countries and emerging economies, China and India have far more common interests than differences. The two sides should follow the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries and ensure that China-India relations move in the right direction in line with the interests and expectations of both nations,” Zhao said.

However, China’s spokesperson still blamed India for the conflict, stating:

“The whole thing happened because India’s frontline troops, in violation of the agreement reached at the Commander-level meeting, once again crossed the Line of Actual Control for deliberate provocation, and even violently attacked the Chinese officers and soldiers who went to the terrain for negotiation, thus triggering fierce physical conflicts and causing casualties,” Zhao added.

According to Hindustan Times, Indian and Chinese delegations, led by major generals, met on Thursday near Patrol Point 14 in Galwan Valley as part of military engagements to de-fuse tensions on the disputed border. This was the seventh meeting between Major General Abhijit Bapat, commander of Karu-based headquarters 3 Infantry Division, and his Chinese counterpart since the stand-off began in early May, and the third after Monday night’s clash that left 20 Indian soldiers dead.

The Guardian reports that China released 10 Indian soldiers after an agreement on the release was reached at major general-level talks between the Indian Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army. China further used its state-backed mouthpiece, the ‘Global Times’, to threaten India with military pressure from China, Pakistan, and even Nepal on Wednesday if the border tensions escalated.

The Global Times quoted an individual at the Institute of International Relations of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Hu Zhiyong, in its one-sided and biased editorial, stating, “India has engaged in border disputes with China, Pakistan and Nepal at the same time. As Pakistan is a reliable strategic partner of China, and Nepal also has close ties with China, and both of them are key partners under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, if India escalates border tensions, it could face military pressure from two or even three fronts, which is far beyond India’s military capability and this might lead to a disastrous defeat for India.”

Last Sunday, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army conducted military drills in high altitude conditions with tanks prior to the incident with India on Monday, The Diplomat reported.

NATO has responded with U.S. representative Kay Bailey Hutchison stating China is being watched by the West due to its growing aggression with its neighbors like Japan and India and other territories like Taiwan. Hutchison insisted that “It’s much more on our radar screen, and I think it should be because we should assess the risk, hope for the best but prepare for the worst,”

Hutchison remarked that “So we know that China has the capability to compete on a level playing field, and we’re asking them to do that, but we’re also turning a wary eye to their behavior right now in the South China Sea, militarizing islands that they said would never be done, as well as the clampdown on Hong Kong.”

When the representative was asked if an actual military confrontation was on the horizon, she replied, “I think NATO is now looking to the East.”

A spokesperson for U.S. President Donald Trump has said he has “no formal plans” to mediate between India and China.

“There are no formal plans,” White House spokesman Kayleigh McEnany told reporters, but said Trump is “aware” and monitoring the tumultuous situation.

Indian media reported a total of 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the brawl earlier this week, citing the toll from a military authority, while the casualties of the Chinese side remains unclear. U.S. intelligence sources have, however, speculated that at least 35 soldiers were killed from China during the hand to hand combat dispute with iron rods, rocks and studded clubs.

However, while the conflict with China may be ending, another escalation has since happened with Pakistan. When this was going to press, Pakistan accused India of “unprovoked” shelling fire in the disputed Kashmir region, which resulted in the deaths of four civilians.

For a timeline update from the Indian side of the conflict with China see the Indian Economic Times here.
