Volvo is amazingly good at creating cars filled with safety options; however, it is the company’s recent low-tech safety feature for cyclists that has proven to be a tremendous success. The car makers teamed up with a Swedish start-up company to create a sharp, lightweight reflective spray-on paint for cyclists, known as Life Paint.

The paint has peculiar features, therefore, after its success among the community of bikers, a limited amount of stock was placed in many cycle stores across the United Kingdom. Life Paint left the shelves empty in a matter of days. However, people who were unable to get their hands on a can of this unique life-saving spray, can currently get theirs on eBay for £45 ($66). Volvo launched the paint to brighten up the cyclists on the roads. The paint contains a fine powder that was created using reflective particles specially designed to reflect a car’s light, showing drivers the presence of cyclists in the dark.
The paint is invisible in daylight, however, within the dark it reflects light back in the same direction, allowing the light to illuminate the objects it was originally sprayed on.

This paint comes in a regular aerosol spray can. If you are wondering about the original color of the bike wearing away, then no, it does not. But, the Life Paint itself, takes just weeks to wear away. Thus, it may be applied to garments, helmets, pushchairs, dog leads, and clearly bikes.
In April, a trial began in London to measure public interest. During the trial, a couple of thousand cans were given away for free, instantly creating a demand for the new safety product. At the time, Volvo aforesaid that if the paint tested successful, the project will expand across the United Kingdom and internationally. However, there are not any immediate plans to sell the paint. Consequently, information concerning what proportion of it is going to retail, has not yet been revealed.
There is still an opportunity for many to obtain a can of this incredible paint; cyclist’s can be ready to get Life Paint at their nearest sports retailers, or perhaps at Volvo shops and showrooms, in the future.

As stated above, the spray is available on eBay for £45. This price is a bit expensive for a bottle of spray, so, with more savvy shoppers in mind, a smaller can has also been created and can be purchased for less than £18. Life Paint is formed by Swedish start-up known as Albedo 100.
It presently sells four differing types of spray.
1) Light Reflective Spray: for metal, wood, and plastic.
2) Invisible Reflective Spray: for textiles.
3) Pale Gray Reflective Spray: for textiles.
4) Light Reflective Spray: for pets.
(All of them are not permanent and is washable.)
