Wonders they say shall never end under this sun. What you are about to read is not a fairytale. It is a real story. It has happened on this earth. Medics in the English county of Essex- north-east of London were left stunned in August last year when a newly born baby, only three days old was able to feed herself.
The then newly born baby although was three days old, was said to look like a three weeks born baby and the act and tactics she employed in feeding herself was just amazing and stunning to everyone who saw her feeding herself.
Amara Chiedozie was born on August 3, 2014 in Chadwell Heath and she started glugging milk from a bottle and being capable of holding the container on her own without the support of her mother.
The strength of her grip at such a tender age amazed her family and medical officials who attended her when she was being born.
Her mother-Onyi Chiedozie told the Daily Mail in an interview then that little Amara started acting strangely when she started feeding here for the first time.
“When we were feeding, she started shaking, and then she just grabbed the bottle. She was holding it by herself. We couldn’t believe it because babies don’t normally do it that young. I’m so shocked that I have been documenting it every day. It’s unbelievable’’, she said.
Miss Chiedozie, a single mother explained further that she makes sure she is always watching her daughter when she is feeding herself due to her strange behavior.
“Sometimes I hold her or sometimes you can prop her up with a pillow and give her the bottle. I’m always watching her. I don’t let her out of my sight’’, she narrated.
Revealing even how strangely Amara acts, mother Chiedozie said “when she doesn’t want it she will push it away. She isn’t strong enough to throw it away, but she does push it, like she does with her dummy. If she is really hungry, she starts shaking. Then she will just grab the bottle as you give it to her.’’
But it looks like the new wonder baby brought some sort of luck to her mother. People booked appointments to watch her feed herself.
“Even nurses are really surprised. When my health support nurse came, she was shocked as well. She couldn’t believe that this could happen. Whenever we go to appointments, we take pictures of her doing it. The midwife and even the doctor we had an appointment with on Saturday were actually amazed. They couldn’t believe it’’, her mother said.
But despite this act by this wonderful child, Parents’ charity in the UK- NCT warned on its website against letting children feed themselves, advising that “If you give your baby a bottle, always hold the bottle and your baby whilst feeding. It’s not safe to leave babies to feed themselves or to prop up a bottle; if they choke they won’t be able to push the bottle away.’’
This advice by the charity is because babies can be choked on something as small as a grape and that is why they should not be left alone while feeding or eating.
Since this wonderful act by Amara, we have not heard of this kind story anywhere in the world this year. Meanwhile, Amara is in good health and she is growing so quick to the admiration of many.
The rather more important question is: WHY is she feeding a three days old baby with a bottle?
Not everyone wants to breast feed and not everyone can breast feed. It is not yet a criminal offense to bottle feed, so get off your high horse and mind your own business.
in response to previous comment, she’s feeding her baby milk so she doesn’t die. What a dumb thing to ask.
Please ‘ don’t u think that it’s just great to her some happy news for a change
Instead of all the other kids u hear of that are taken away due to neglect ‘mum looks like she is doing a great job
Carry on what your doing darling
That baby should not be feeding herself, the mother should be holding the bottle its part of the bonding process..
Part of the bonding process huh? Would you rather have the mother leave the baby like every other person does these days? People who dont like this just because the baby can feed herself nedd to leave this page because you are just trying to control how other people live.
