Donald Trump is actively campaigning to become the nominee of the Republican Party for the November elections in the United States. All things being equal, he stands a chance of entering the White House as the 45th President of the United States of America.
At a recent campaign in the city of Buffalo, New York State, Mr Trump proved that he has no clue about the country he is hoping to lead. Commonly, Trump could not determine recent history of the United States. In his final campaign rally before the primary in New York, which he won, Mr Trump confused his supporters who had gathered to listen to his message.
Time reports that Trump was about to deliver prepared remarks lauding the so-called New York Values. But he ended up mentioning the name of a popular convenience store chain in place of 9/11. 7-Eleven is an international chain of convenience stores that operates franchises and licenses about 58,300 stores in 17 countries. The company is headquartered in the city of Dallas, United States.
Trump told his crowd: “It’s very close to my heart because I was down there, and I watched our police and our firemen down at 7/11, down at the World Trade Center right after it came down, and I saw the greatest people I’ve ever seen in action.” Trump never realized the blunder and stir he caused. He continued his delivery, leaving his supporters and journalists who were covering the event, confused as to what he was talking about.
At the sixth Republican Presidential televised debate organized by the Fox Business Network in North Charleston, South Carolina on January 14, Trump’s main opponent for the ticket of the Republican Party, Ted Cruz criticized him on the New York Values.
Senator Cruz said “There are many, many wonderful working men and women in New York,” Cruz said. “But everyone understands that the value of New York City are socially liberal, pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, focused around money and the media.”
It was this comment that has hunted Trump, forcing him to react to it wherever he campaigned during the primary in New York.
As Trump never corrected himself of the blunder, the media seized on it. Some played the footage many times; making its way onto social media platforms.
In order to control the damage the blunder has caused, spokeswoman for the Trump campaign, Katrina Pierson later told CNN that what happened to Trump was purely a slip of tongue. She was quoted as saying “After you’ve done several events over a short time period, people misspeak all of the time — slip of the tongue.”
But some observers still insist that Trump has forgotten about the date of the incident, despite wanting to become the number one man of the country where the incident happened. Observers have described Trump as the most controversial figure among all the aspirants in the two dominant parties seeking to become the next President of the United States.
