In an attempt to get rid of an enormous stash of weed, Palmerah police officers set the 3.3 ton-pile of marijuana ablaze in the open. As a result local residents ‘accidentally’ got high, with some reporting that they felt dizzy and intoxicated when the smoke filled their streets.
The marijuana, seized in earlier raids, was being destroyed along with 2,538 pills of ecstasy pills and 1.8 kilograms of crystal meth uncovered by airport customs officials. Police wore gas masks, but they had apparently forgotten to inform the journalists and everyone else in the town that the cannabis was to be burnt nearby.

the weed isnt much of a big deal because its relatively safe, but they confiscated thousands of ecstasy pills and almost 2 WHOLE KILOS of CRYSTAL METH, then decided to burn it out in the open, exposing the whole town to methamphetamine and possibly other drugs if the pills were cut with anything. what kind of cops would do this to their own town?! and i bet no one will even get demoted over this..
