The united states prison system, not only a machine for mass incarceration, but a machine for modernized slave labor. The United States has 5% of the worlds population, yet we have 25% of the worlds prison population. Land of the free right?
It would seem the statistics say otherwise, since the official drug war president Nixon announced in the 70′s, our prison population has grown over 700%! Recent estimates put our prison population to well over 2.4 million inmates. 50% of the federal prison inmates are for non violent drug offenses. All the while 20% of state prison inmates are drug related.

In addition to all that, the reality is that people actually BECOME drug addicts while incarcerated. Yes, the prisons are FULL OF DRUGS. Thus, it makes even less sense to incarcerate people for drug offenses. Our nation is bank-rupt, and our corrupt government continues to incarcerate the largest percentage of its population of any nation in the world, at $30,000/year EACH in taxpayer money! Mind you, that money isn’t getting spent on the prisoners, whom they dress in rags, and feed expired, generic peanut butter and jelly. It goes into the pockets of all the superintendents, wardens, correctional officers, etc., who receive fat government paychecks and benefits, so long as the jails and prisons are kept full!
The Labor part isn’t even where the money is at…It’s the ALL CAP NAMES accounts of all the PERSONS being warehoused in these jails and prisons. In the early 2000’s it was said that for each felony charge THE STATE INC. received $4 million and THE COUNTY INC. received $40 million …and they also got use of the PERSON(S) ALL CAPS NAME ACCOUNT to use as their expense!!! God only knows how much money they are making off of the ALL CAPS NAME ACCOUNTS of PERSONS now!!!…and THAT is the real reason we have 25% of the world’s prison population!
