The number of people seeking asylum in Germany this year will be as high as 1.5 million. After arriving in Germany, the migrants are registered, fingerprinted and brought to shelters or temporary housing such as university dorms or even shipping containers that have been converted into living spaces. While the country is going to extremes to offer asylum to those genuinely fleeing persecution, it struggles to continue welcoming migrants and refugees. After nearing the tipping point, Germany now calls for all European countries to work together and share responsibility.
