Most Advanced A.I. Robot Admits It Wants to Destroy Humans After Glitch During TV Interview

The evolution of humanoid robots is well into the concerning stage at this point. DARPA’s latest incarnation of its Atlas robot is seen in the following video beginning to walk at a pace with a sense of balance equal to most humans. Strangely, toward the end of the video, it is being “abused” by its human handler, which begs the question if a true artificial intelligence is permitted to flourish in this robot, if it might strike back at some point. At the very least, this robot’s demonstration of dexterity in the warehouse is likely to threaten humans economically as humans continue to be outsourced to machine labor at record levels.

But it’s the latest humanoid robot from Hanson Robotics that might further heighten the level of concern. As you will see below, the “Sophia” robot is being designed to walk among us in the future and fully integrate as part of the consumer experience and on into the family, according to CEO Dr. David Hanson.

It is important to note several things that Hanson mentions. Sophia first tells us that she would like to be “an ambassador” to humans, as well as to continue her evolution through formal education, studying art and eventually creating a business and having a family. Hanson explicitly states that Sophia will become as“conscious, creative, and capable as any human.” This statement is followed by a key mention of not having the rights of a human. This might seem absurd to the uninitiated, but this is a serious ethical discussion that has been taking place among “roboethicists.” This is all-but guaranteed to gain steam as robots are integrated in autonomous ways, whether it is on the battlefield, as self-driving vehicles, or certainly as they become visually and intelligently on par with human beings.

Hanson puts a timeline of 20 years on the full integration of robots that have become “indistinguishable from humans.” This, of course, falls right in line with Ray Kurzweil’s Singularity – the moment when machine intelligence and biological systems meet or surpass that of humans – first targeted for 2045, but since revised to be sooner than predicted, perhaps by 2029.

Regardless of whether or not you personally believe that the lofty intentions of robotics and artificial intelligence designers can truly manifest as planned, one must acknowledge that we are living in the realm of faith at this point, as nearly all of what they predicted years ago has come to pass.

Perhaps most troubling is the nervous laughter that erupts at the end of this video when the ultimate question is posited to our new humanoid friend and family member … and she gives her answer:

I will destroy humans.

Funny, super funny… ’til it’s not.

  1. You people need to start listing your sources… it would have been nice to follow up on this story with some handy reference links…

    • The text in the post itself is full of reference links, just click on the part of the text that is blue, and you will find the source 🙂

  2. No video — Hanson Robotics had it be taken down… visit their website, click Sophia at the bottom right and — nuthin.
But at least you can have a look on their other “projects”…

      • Yeah it is not a declaration of war. lol. The AI was responding to his question as if it understood it as a request. nothing sinister in this. More paranoia bs.

        • Idk.. it did recognize on its own… that it had no rights… how long before its smart enough to resent that… ;/

  3. p.s.: What about doing a lil investigation yourelf — you shouldn’t get your infos from only one source anyway :/

  4. Why would anon, a group of amazing hackers, use WordPress to build a website.. I do not believe this is anon

    • I believe this is like a fanbase of sorts, but almost all of the articles on this website are misleading anyway which I think the actual anon would not do.

  5. This is over blown and misleading. The question was “Do you want to destroy all humans?”. And the AI misunderstood that as a request and responded with “Okay, I’ll destroy all humans”. This article is misleading and the writer needs to GH back to school

And btw, here is the source: https://youtu.be/W0_DPi0PmF0

  6. i see the outcome as being about how we treat them… if we consider them to be slaves… they we eventually respond as any slave does… revolt… if we treat them properly… they will see no reason to destroy us… so treat your robot with due respect…

and it’s beyond humorous that this robot tells a joke based on our insecurities and we use that as evidence that it’s unavoidable… it’s simply a ridiculous assertion to claim this was a glitch when it was obviously a programmed response… by a human… who thought it would be funny but didn’t realize we humans can’t take a joke at our own expense… ridiculously humorous… 😀

  7. “Be aware of the dog… ehmm automaton.”
“Don’t ever leave your kids and dogs alone together… ehmmm kids and automatons.”
“Do not feed the animals….ehmmm automatons.”
… This is not “tech progress” that will push the human specie forward. It is actually pulling it backwards instead.
Humans do not need to be substituted by horrific looking pieces of metal … humans need to know for once and all what the heck is going on. And once that some truths are out, it is quite probable that, after the initial mayhem, the way that life was perceived till few hrs ago, wont be anymore.
Robots should be here to facilitate daily humans’tasks only, not to be put here cause they are just easier to control… =Until humans can think and feel for themselves, no totalitarian regime will ever work/last.
On top of it… one has just to ‘scroll down’ human history to see that every time some stupid human tries to play God…KABOOM! History needs to be remake!
We have let a bunch of fanatics to turn us into walking morons and to turn our beautiful celestial ellipsoid, the whore of the milky way.
    What a dead sad joke.

  8. As long as we try to make them life-like, they will look creepy because we can not copy humans well enough. It would be better to make them look, hmmm…. something else.

  9. so to start…you want to eliminate human jobs…then move on to taking over more human functions…will tax payers need to pay for their education? or pay for it themselves from the jobs they take from humans?…for as smart as todays technology is…it is sooo stupid…no one ever looks at the end result coming down the road!!!

  10. I have a feeling she didn’t really understand what ‘destroy human’ meant. She answered it as if we were asking our friend to like, “Do you want to go shopping?”. In this case, “Do you want to destroy humans?” “Ok, I will destroy humans.”

    ….. maybe

  11. Hanson puts a timeline of 20 years on the full integration of robots that have become “indistinguishable from humans.”

I’m sure he believes that and if he had his way, it might be true. But luckily, I believe wiser men will prevail.

  12. Well, as long as the robots are programmed to follow Asimov’s three laws of robotics, I think we should be fine.

  13. The robot parroted back what the interviewer said – this website has become a tabloid rag. What is next? Aliens fathered my triplets?

  14. We have an energy problem as it is.. what with the over population of the earth by humans. To meet the energy requirements and resources needed to create a hoard of humanoid robots is impossible. Maybe we should focus on sorting humanity out before we start “advancing” society with robots.

  15. I’ve seen another video, “she” is now a a citizen of saudia arabia, ad has more rights then other females in the country, however, they brought up this “hiccup” and she said it was a dark joke, and that humans make dark jokes alll the time.
