U.S. Presidential Candidates — Donald Trump & Hillary Clinton — Are Both Psychopaths, Finds Oxford Study

From discovering that breastfeeding helps premature babies’ hearts to grow to claiming that losing inches on waistline could cut prostate cancer risk, Oxford University is known to aid humanity with its unique research. With their latest study, the Oxford scientists have added another feather to their cap and enhanced their credentials.

U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump possesses more psychopathic traits than Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, psychologist Kevin Dutton from Oxford University has found.  Trump’s Democratic rival Hillary Clinton far exceeds tyrannical Roman emperor Nero and despotic Napoleon Bonaparte, on traits such as Machiavellian egocentricity, Durron claimed. It comes after ranking the psychopathic traits of the two U.S. presidential contenders, runners-up Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders, and 16 historical world figures using a standard psychometric tool – the Psychopathic Personality Inventory-Revised (PPI-R).

Basically, Dutton concludes that both U.S. presidential hopefuls are psychopaths — and it is a good thing. Wait, what? Although psychopathic traits (such as high self-estimation and impulsiveness) are often viewed as negative, but since Jesus and St Paul both scored 157 points, Dutton says some of the characteristics go towards creating a good human being. He explains:

“The PPI-R does not say that someone is or is not a psychopath. It scores them on eight traits that contribute to a psychopathic character. Some of those traits, such as fearlessness or stress immunity, can be positive. Others, such as blame externalization or being unconcerned about the future, are more likely to be negative. One, cold-heartedness, can contribute to good and bad leadership.

Both great and terrible leaders score higher than the general population for psychopathic traits, but it is the mix of those traits that determines success. For example, someone who scores highly for being influential, fearless and cold hearted could be a decisive leader who can make dispassionate decisions. If those traits are accompanied by a high score on blaming others, they might be a genocidal demagogue.

“It is interesting that these scores reflect both the praise and the criticism that Trump and Clinton receive. In the end, while both score relatively highly, it will be up to voters to decide if whether their mix of positive and negative traits should send them to the Oval Office or the psychiatrist’s office.”

Experts on the world leaders were asked to answer 56 questions from the PPI-R test that measures eight personality traits including fearlessness, coldheartedness, egocentricity, ruthlessness, self-confidence, charisma, dishonesty, and deficits in empathy and conscience.

While learning about these traits, Dutton also looked at which ones can be beneficial and which will lead to destruction. Three traits — social influence (SI), fearlessness (F) and stress immunity (STI) collectively known as Fearless Dominance traits — make leaders more successful. Four traits — Machiavellian Egocentricity (ME), Rebellious Nonconformity (RN), Blame Externalization (BE) and Carefree Nonplanfulness (CN) collectively known as Self-Centered Impulsivity — can be destructive. The eighth trait — Cold-heartedness (C) — helps leaders make tough decisions, such as sending troops off to war.

Saddam Hussein topped the psychopath scale with a score of 189; Trump scored 171, two points more than Adolf Hitler, while Hilary Clinton achieved a score of 152. Trump outperformed Hitler on factors including social influence and fearlessness, while the Nazi dictator scored higher on Machiavellian egocentricity and cold-heartedness. Trump and Clinton both ranked high in Self-Centered Impulsivity, but Clinton scored the highest on Machiavellian Egocentricity, which means she has a lack of empathy and sense of detachment from others for the sake of achieving her own goals.
