FBI claim they may have found a way to Unlock Phone without Apple’s Help

Never mind about Apple stubbornly clinging to their high ground on the FBI demanding for them to unlock the phone of one of the San Bernardino terrorists; the FBI may have figured out how to do it themselves.

Contrary to the anticipated court hearing that was set for this week, to review the FBI’s demand for Apple to unlock a phone, an “outside party” has reportedly come forward to assist the FBI with their problem. The Independent has reported that the unlocking of a phone may occur now, regardless of Apple helping and court intervention.

The only thing holding them up on using this new revelation to assist in their investigations is if they can determine “whether it is a viable method that will not compromise data” on Syed Rizwan Farook’s phone. According to the filing, if the method proves reasonable “it should eliminate the need for the assistance from Apple.”

Last month, Apple was ordered to come up with software that would assist the FBI in disabling security features on an Apple iPhone without risking losing any data. Apple, in retaliation said it would set a precedent that could lead to the violation of people’s privacy, and refused to comply, stating their constitutional rights were also being violated. They also voiced concerns over the new technology falling into the hands of hackers and alike.
