A deputy with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was arrested after brandishing a weapon at the Maverick convenience store in Winnemucca, on March 17, 2015. 47-year-old Lee Dove, who in 2014 abused the state’s forfeiture law to steal $50,000 from a man who said he had won it in a Las Vegas casino, was charged with drawing a deadly weapon in a threatening manner and assault with a deadly weapon, which is a felony.
Dove was the officer operating Humboldt County’s highway interdiction program, which resulted in multiple federal lawsuits against the county, and is currently the subject of an Attorney General’s Office investigation.
He was booked into the Humboldt County Detention Center on $22,500 bail, and has since been released. The incident is still under investigation. Anyone who has information about the incident may contact Lt. Pam Coats of the detective division of the Winnemucca Police Department at 623-6396 or Secret Witness at 623-6969.
