Who Is The Jester – Is He The Hacker Who Really Fights The Jihadists For Good Or Is It All For The Name?

Almost six years ago, The Jester started targeting websites with extremist content, such as the official website of the Taliban. In addition, he applied various social engineering techniques to make it seem like he’d accomplished much more. For instance, he made use of small links leading to articles written by himself or by one of his allies.

However, in the United States, he has bombarded websites of Christian extremists. In one case, he hacked the website of the Westboro Baptist Church in response to their protests against the burials of men that died in either the Republic of Iraq or Afghanistan. Over the past couple of years, Westboro’s website has been under constant assault by The Jester.

In the ending months of 2010, The Jester declared accountability for the strike that quickly chopped off utilization of the WikiLeaks page, just as WikiLeaks was getting ready to distribute digital composites of the United States diplomatic cables. The hacker also stated that he uses his own tool, which is called XerXes. According to experts, this tool uses the TOR network to launch attacks. Once an attack is successful, it automatically announces it on his Twitter profile.

FOR THE FUN OF IT

Both LulzSec, a computer hacking group, and Anonymous have a special place in the Jester’s heart. It is likely that our support for WikiLeaks had activated The Jester’s acrimony. As a result, The Jester participated in unfavorable exercises in opposition to Anonymous – including hunting down Anonymous chat servers –  just before the WikiLeaks assaults had settled down. From then on, The Jester claimed that he had gone after Anonymous’ personal hacking tools.

In the winter of 2010, The Jester stated that he had infected the famous Low Orbit Ion Cannon. He claimed that he had patched the tool for better results, making the attack seventy times more effective by adding TOR anonymity on it. Though, the truth is, he incorporated a back-door that gave away the IP address of the person using it, and made its code undetectable by your locally installed anti-virus.

The Jester then stated that Anonymous’ tools were corrupt. However, this storyline has a couple of holes in it; for instance, the Low Orbit Ion Canon tool did not, by any means, provide any anonymity. Those in ReaperSec, propose that The Jester had received assistance. So, the entire tale of the Low Orbit Ion Canon hack, could potentially be yet another psychological game.

Ever since then, Anonymous personnel and The Jester have regularly tried to figure out ways to identify one another, disclosing personal information. Anons have identified a lot of people who have presumably been The Jester, while he has been involved in some analysis of his own. For instance, The Jester attempted to reveal the identity of Sabu, the co-founder of  LulzSec. Sabu’s real name is Hector Xavier. The Jester identified him as Xavier Leon, and found out that he lived in New York, which was correct. Furthermore, he also discovered e-mails and blogs linked to Xavier, on the basis of the IP address he left open in the IRC chats.

Backtrace Security (the operating system that hackers used) had effectively identified Sabu, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation used comparable facts to discover Xavier’s identification. In 2012, The Jester attempted to exploit all his opponents at the same time by uploading a trap to his Twitter. The trap was a QR code, which he stated had taken advantage of a weakness in the WebKit smartphone browser platform, allowing him to gather Twitter details (usernames and passwords) and other information.

THE OPPONENT OF MY ADVERSARY

Four years ago, a Twitter account named Smedley Manning – an alias in reference to Chelsea Manning (born Bradley Manning), who provided WikiLeaks with secret documents concerning the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – emerged. Using that profile, the individual began to gain The Jester’s attention, asking for direct messages. And, at the same time, The Jester was updating his blog, telling his readers about his new Saladin tool. However, he also hinted at some possible trouble.

According to Decrypted Tech, The Jester stated that there were some usual suspects…the guys at ReaperSec are helping each other and looking for an alliance to reveal his identification. He further stated that this act was funny because someone had already told him about this. So, before they could get to him, The Jester already pointed out the people in ReaperSec.

However, Smedley Manning tweeted once more, asking to chat via inbox messages and posted The Jester’s supposed initials. Manning also wished The Jester a happy birthday, and kept on dropping personal information in the form of hints. For example, he wrote the following ten words:-

Dallas
Cowboys
Scruffy
Murphys
GA
Shiner
Ft
Benning
2003
You

Later, Manning uploaded screenshots of a claimed private discussion(s) between them both, whereby he told The Jester what he knew about him. In that chat, Manning told The Jester that he knew his name, he knew he was a part of the 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning, along with the fact that he was also shifted to the Special Operations Command unit.

He further stated that he was going to drop his curriculum vitae, and all the other personal information he had on him, and give his resume to WikiLeaks – that is, once he had raised 20,000 Bitcoins, so that he could donate some to WikiLeaks as well as keep some for himself. However, some of the details posted by Smedley Manning seemed dodgy.

He published a URL to a picture of The Jester’s alleged Facebook profile. However, the image was not a Facebook profile picture; in actuality, the photo had come from a Georgian website selling used car. Shortly after, his Twitter account disappeared, and his personal blog vanished. Later that day, a Twitter account named @th3j35tr (ʇuıɐs ʞɔopuooq) was made. However, people who know him say that this new account does not belong to The Jester. And many say that Smedley Manning is The Jester himself, or at least a friend of The Jester.
