Monsanto has challenged the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer after a report condemning their pesticides’ as most likely to cause cancer in humans was released. The agricultural giant has demanded a retraction on the report, calling on the researchers to reconsider their assessment.[1]
Their most popular weed-killer, Roundup, has been labelled a probable carcinogen to humans, noting the ingredient glyphosate as one of the suspects. Since the release of Roundup on the international market, the agricultural industry has predominantly used it in GMO and pesticide spraying under the belief that it is relatively harmless according to general scientific consensus in the community. Though dependent on which past scientific evaluation you read, the consequences on health vary greatly. [2]
