In 2013, comedian, actor and political activist Russell Brand said that he never voted because like most people he was utterly disenchanted by politics and “regarded politicians as frauds and liars and the current political system as nothing more than a bureaucratic means for furthering the augmentation and advantages of economic elites”. He asked readers to “revolt in whatever way we want, with the spontaneity of the London rioters, with the certainty and willingness to die of religious fundamentalists or with the twinkling mischief of the trickster”.
A year later, Brand called for a revolution. In an interview given to the TIME magazine, he talked about true democracy as it relates to political funding. He said, “The less concentrated power is, the better. The more people have access to their own communities, their own resources, running their own places of work, running their own residences — the better it is. These machines are here to serve us. If the machines don’t serve us, switch the machines off. By ‘us’, I mean the vast majority of people – the 80% of Americans who are disillusioned with contemporary politics.
“In every election in American history the party with the most money won. So what is the point in participating? Don’t vote until there’s a party that says, ‘Hello, we are going to represent you, ordinary people. We are no interested at all in your money, we are not going to accept any donations, we are not interested in lobby, we are not interested in corporate law. What we are interested in is making sure the will of you, ordinary Americans or British people is represented here in Congress’.
“We can create magnificent worlds. We are all going to die anyway. Do you want to die for something or do you want to die for nothing?”
Brand’s book Revolution, which called for a “global revolution involving radical wealth redistribution and spiritualism”, was published in 2014. He advocated a social revolution wherein, “corporate tyranny, ecological irresponsibility and economic inequality” would come to an end, and proposed the eradication of the “nation state”, the demise of multinational corporations and the injection of spiritual thought into the structure of society.
As the Americans gear up for elections 2016, will the revolution take place? Wait and watch…

Well said RUSSELL..
I have to agree. This world is not acceptable for human habitation. Not complicated: Big Corporations throw Big Money at Congress and always illeally get their way. PEOPLE HAVE VERY LITTLE CONTROL OVER ANYTHING.The fools have to live on our earth too, but are too evil and stupid to realize this fact.I am not against a Revolution. It is our only chance.
I’ve said this exact same thing to people for years, and they all look at me like I should be arrested or committed. When will people realize that this is the only way of taking back our world from those that have no love or respect for our people lives nor the planet itself. Well said Russell, I’m with you to the end.
