The Sicilian Mafia in New York City has announced that it is capable than the security establishments of the United States to protect citizens from any surprise attack from Islamic State (IS), following the Paris attacks claimed by the militants.
According to the RT News, Giovanni Gambino, the son of a key figure in the Gambino mob organization expressed this view, downplaying the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security as bodies who will not be able to stop IS militants from attacking American citizens inside the country.
Giovanni said the Mafia wants to engage IS militants in order to do their bit to protect communities, adding that the mafia’s knowledge of individual movements and interaction with locals gives it the upper hand, even compared to the latest surveillance technologies.
If given the chance, the Mafia will start their security surveillance in New York City, and later extend it to other places across the US.
“They [American Security operatives] often act too late, or fail to see a complete picture of what’s happening due to a lack of human intelligence. The world is dangerous today, but people living in New York neighborhoods with Sicilian connections should feel safe. We make sure our friends and families are protected from extremists and terrorists, especially the brutal, psychopathic organization that calls itself the Islamic State”, Giovanni reportedly told NBC in an interview.
Giovanni also boasted that IS militants fear the Sicilian mafia, and this has been one of the main reasons why they have not tried to set up any underground cells in Sicily, considered to be the birth place of the Mafia. He said IS will never dare the Sicilian Mafia because they are more dangerous than IS.
However, Giovanni admitted that the Mafia has a bad reputation, but urged that if they are given the chance, they will prove society wrong as this current situation is almost like ‘State of Emergency’.
“The Mafia has a bad reputation, but much of that’s undeserved. As with everything in life, there are good, bad and ugly parts – the rise of global terrorism gives the mafia a chance to show its good side“, he said.
Giovanni who is trying to carve out a career as a Hollywood screenwriter also urged Hollywood stars like Al Pacino and Robert De Niro to do more when it comes to publicly taking a stand against IS militants.
“I’m a big fan of Hollywood acting. My number one is De Niro, and my number two is Pacino. I’m disappointed in Hollywood actors that they’re not stepping up and speaking out in public. Especially these guys who want to play the big boss in gangster movies. Send a strong message that we are all together in fighting this monster called ISIS”, the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.
Since this statement was made by Giovanni, people have reacted with mixed feelings on Social Media. Whereas some said the group could help prevent any impending attack, others called it a joke as giving the Mafia such powers would mean legitimizing their operations across the US.
Giovanni was brought up in Torretta, a mountainous area overlooking Palermo, the capital of Sicily in Italy before moving to Brooklyn in the US. The Gambino family was one of the five families that dominated organized crime activities in New York City within the nationwide criminal phenomenon known as the Mafia or Cosa Nostra.

After all , Anything coming out of Russia is a lie right now ! The plane going down was CLEARLY shot from the near side of the ridge that the planne went down on . If you look through the footage of the plane going down you can see the contrail left on face side approx. 300ft. from top of ridge Just a heads up . Seems to me that this is a clear sign of Russia trying to put pressure to invade Turkey .
