This video from NASA captures the amazing scene of an otherwise routine spacewalk, with the help of a GoPro camera. This mission took place in February. NASA astronauts Barry Wilmore and Terry Virts had to work on the exterior of the space station to reconfigure it for new spacecraft docking.
Instead of being optimized for space shuttles, the ISS will soon have docking ports designed for the use of commercial crew and cargo vehicles. The visiting ships will be able to undock much more quickly, allowing them to serve as emergency lifeboats should this be neccessary, as long as their crew is on board the ISS. NASA hopes that one day the space station may even be able to support two visiting vessels at once.
