Chinese businessman, 54-year-old Xiong Shuihua, in his childhood was well looked- after by residents of Xiongkeng village in the city of Xinyu, southern China. Now that he’s made it big in the steel industry, he has decided to return to the village and give everybody a piece of the prosperity he’s had.
To make space for new luxury flats and villas, his team bulldozed the old huts and paved the muddy roads. 72 families were given luxury flats for free while 18 families who were particularly kind to the businessman were given villas, in a project costing close to £4 million.
He is also providing three meals a day to the older residents and people on a low income.
In an interview with YouKu, he said, “I earned more money than I knew what to do with, and I didn’t want to forget my roots. I always pay my debts, and wanted to make sure the people were helped me when I was younger and my family were paid back.”
