Texas’ Ke’onte Cook, 14, who bounced from foster home to foster home and even survived a failed adoption, had tantrums as a foster child and was inaccurately diagnosed as bipolar and having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. He was in mental hospital three times during his four years in six foster homes. His life changed thanks to WFAA-TV anchor Gloria Campos, who featured his story twice during her Wednesday’s Child show that helps find adoptive homes for children in foster care. Watch what happened when the teen surprised Campos while she was broadcasting live on air!
If only everyone had the same determination then that woman did. Our world would be much more powerful.
I would like to thank that new castor and those wonderful people who adopted Ke’onte. I spent my whole childhood in foster care, bounced from house to house, abused by the people who were supposed to care for me and given drugs when I didn’t “act properly”. I’m still on meds to this day due to the trauma from my childhood.
More attention needs to be given to the foster care system and the children in them need more people to speak out for them as Mrs.Campos did for Ke’onte.
These people have done what every parents these days should do. Overpopulation is the biggest problem we face, over medication is also a massive problem our society faces. I too was heavily over medicated as a teenager, went through TONS of issues, and as soon as I got off the meds? totally back to normal and better than ever.
Plot Twist… he’s the news Anchor’s son.
