“Collateral Murder” is a widely-shared Wikileaks video that exposes the vast swath of atrocities that occur in Iraq to this day. Although we would all rather to cover our eyes and ears to this footage, which is disturbing to the highest degree, I think the first thing we have to do to ever stop this madness is to see this problem first-hand; to admit that there IS a major problem. People still seem to want to believe that the West is hunting only for terrorists in the Middle East- when the reality is that thousands of civilians are being wantonly dismembered by bombs- a barbaric act that would turn ANY friends and family of the murdered to terrorism, which I have often argued was the whole point; to spawn an endless generation of enemies, so that war need never end. An Orwellian nightmare that we MUST wake from. The fact is that Al Qaeda would never have been in Iraq had the US not intervened (for NO reason), and ISIS would have had no foothold in the region had the US not destroyed or severely undermined the leadership of Iraq, Libya and Syria. Yet STILL, this happens- why is Assad, the only potential ally (besides Iran, which is ALSO vilified) who is ACTUALLY fighting ISIS vilified and demonized? Turkey, Israel and Saudi Arabia are all nations that, like the US, see Assad as a BIGGER threat to their interests than ISIS. Why is a no-fly zone discussed, when ISIS of all the factions there has virtually NO air power?
Turkey has willfully allowed ISIS to traverse its borders, has even attacked Kurds outright rather than focus on ISIS, and is openly working with “rebels” who, oops, work with ISIS. Israel too is openly working with “rebels” who, oops, work with ISIS. Saudi Arabia is openly funding and arming rebels who, oops, work with ISIS. The US is funding and arming rebels who OOPS work with ISIS…. Also, those humvees in Iraq that somehow keep getting stolen by ISIS…. Yeah, the US is the kind of country that “accidentally” loses ONE BILLION DOLLARS worth of equipment to ISIS…. Not to mention the WEAPONS and even ABRAM TANKS. I’m SURE the US has no way of tracking a freakin’ tank… Oh look, is that John McCain in a photo-op with ISIS? Clearly accidental.
