[Leytonstone] A man stabbed three people in a London Subway on Saturday, slitting the throat of a passenger and then shouting “this is for Syria”. He then proceeded towards a group of police officers. Following the trend of most such attacks, this has been branded a terror incident by the UK government.
Shocking as the attack was, it’s what the officers did to the man that would leave most American readers dumbfounded:
This is a man who had already slashed the throat of one man. He’d also stabbed two other people. A murderous with a knife was now trying to get at the officers, yet the shocking thing is that they did not kill him. Instead, they simply tasered him twice… and then only after giving the man ample warning.
Here’s the American version, filmed on Wednesday, depicting a stabbing suspect getting shot firing-squad style by San Francisco officers (disturbing audio, but no violence can be seen in the video):
There’s quite a difference here between the police systems of the two nations. In Britain, a person who was certainly armed (with a melee weapon he had just used) was given the chance to come in peacefully and face the justice system; his refusal to do so when he tried to attack the officers led to him being tasered twice.
In the US… a man who was armed (also with a melee weapon) but who was trying to edge away from the police, was shot with live ammo so many times that there was no doubt that they simply wanted him dead. The American police behaved as though they were the law… the judge jury AND executioner.
The best part of all of this is the fact that most British police do not even want to be armed; a survey of the British Police Federation revealed that 82% of ALL officers in Britain did not want officers to be armed!
Perhaps this explains why, while British cops have killed only one person this year (until September 1st anyway) while American police have killed 776 people in the same time period.

Thats right. Dont kill them. They just want that. Let them rot in jail.
So we the people can continue to pay taxes to give these guys a nice shelter and let them continue to live while WE pay for it? Which do you think is cheaper? a 50 cent bullet to the head or $10,000+ per year to keep the fuck healthy and well fed?
So let’s just shoot people with psychological problems because they approached a pussy cop.People get put in jail for a reason, to learn and not do things again.Because you stupid americans have a shitty prison system doesn’t mean all people agree with your stupid ideology.
Actually, it has been proven time, and time…. aaaaaand time again – that it will eventually be shitastic much cheaper to rehabilitate people rather than giving them the death sentence.
– Because once rehabilitated THEY ACTUALLY GIVE BACK TO SOCIETY FOR THE REMAINDER OF THEIR LIFE.
But you would know this, if you were just a tad educated :3.
Okay, i dont trust media, neither this video, just because there is audio of gunfire is not proof of anything.
I live in San Francisco, the above video is from a few blocks away from my brother’s house. There is other footage of the incident… I have no doubt that it was excessive use of force by the police.
Never mind about the audio of gunfire. They were pointing their guns on him. That means any of the officers could shot if he suspect something from the victim.
There was no actual “Gunfire” that was the sound of the Tasers who got shot
The other difference is that UK police are the best trained in the World (not bragging, it’s true), the UK police have the highest average IQ and the UK does not have stupid gun laws like the USA.
I don’t want to say that they’re the best trained in the world but they’re really good that’s true. Anyway every europe country deals better with such a situation then the usa. you already said the reason… they don’t have such stupid gun laws..
That is what American police do when possible, but in many cases their training and the situation pushes them to use deadly force. Stop acting like they are all looking to shoot everyone they meet.
Just to bring to your attention.. the man that was slashed didn’t die he was injured.
this is the way things should be done !! American police all the way !! british police sucks !!
I am no lover of the USA gun laws, and I am a big fan of our UK Police Force, BUT, maybe it is worth noting the difference in size of population when comparing figures. It is possible that this has been done and I have misread the post, but the population of the USA is surely much much larger than the population of the UK.
According to 2009 data collected by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the U.S. sees 3.3 homicides by firearm for every 100,000 citizens. By comparison, Canada’s rate is 0.5 homicides and the U.K. is 0.1. Most European countries sit somewhere in the same range. full stats here (http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/u-s-gun-homicides-the-gap-between-perception-and-reality-1.1858107) You’re 33 times more likely to be killed by a bullet in the US than in Canada or the UK. Does the US have 33 times the rate of mental health issues? Nope. The difference is gun control. Also I think it’s just terrible that the United States has the most firearms per 100 residents at approximately 112.6, rated at Number 1 in the world, ranked 2 is Serbia, 3 is Yemen. stats viewable here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_of_guns_per_capita_by_country
I guess the population of the USA isn’t 776 times bigger then the UKs.
I don’t think its to do with the population at all, if everyone in the UK had the similar amount of guns like the US there would be more in the US due to population however the UK has strict rules on guns and close to nobody have them so if the UK had the same laws with the same population of the US there would still be a lot less police deaths due to the laws the UK have nd which the US are unable to sort out therefore the UK is better off either way
the problem is not police american police not correctly trained the problem is the racism, and that seems without cure in US.
guess it is not only difference in police rutine it is also the fear of faceing death penalty, it puts suspect into absurd position trying to avoid being cought when commit crime or murder. The gun laws also make cops act more brutaly against civilians. It is simple more guns more fear more deaths.
There is a massive difference between the two videos. The American police video appeared too excessive in terms of force as he did not appear to be much of a threat. The man actually looked like a problematic drug user moving away from the police. I think in that instance they could have wounded him rather than put all those bullets in him. But the American police do need to use that amount of force at times as guns are so readily available. The video of British police is shocking because of their lack of action and makes me ashamed to be British. This man had already cut someone’s throat and stabbed someone else and went to attack police shouting “this is for Syria” and they didn’t taser him straight away! What if he had a gun or a detonator? They are going to be useless in another terrorist attack. Changes need to be made
Here in the uk there is no fear the police will kill you if anything that happens in America meaning the murder of civilians happened here in UK there would be on uproar all over papers not just hidden from view. people have no reason here to not let on to them there is no fear for average person to talk to the police. They don’t carry guns and neither do we and we feel so safe there isn’t this mass media pandemic telling us how dangerous everything is or what could kill us we don’t live in fear of each other even the Lee rigby incident (rip) the police didn’t kill the murderers and because of this we found out a lot more of why what how etc if that was america they’d have died straight away and the poor victims family wouldn’t have a reason.
