Where one country closes all humanitarian visas and refuses entrance from Ebola-stricken countries, another takes down and deletes a petition asking for more action.
This week the Obama administration has done just that. A petition urging for more appropriate action to combat the Ebola situation on the United States home front has been deleted from Whitehouse.gov, citing “The petition you are trying to access has been removed from the site under our Moderation Policy because it is in violation of our Terms of Participation.”[1]
In light of the CDC’s protocols which have proven to be ineffective after two nurses were effected with the virus in Texas recently, the public outcry for a tightening of visas from those flying in from Ebola-struck countries, is justifiable. Yet Obama’s response has downplayed the situation by stating that “We know the protocols and we know that when they’re followed, they work.” [2]
Australia’s Prime Minister has announced this week that travel bans will be in place for the foreseeable future. “We’re not processing any [tourist, study or humanitarian] applications from the affected countries,” immigration minister, Scott Morrison, told Parliament. [3]
The question begs why the petition was taken down in the first place. By removing it, Obama’s administration appears to be more concerned with the “narrative” rather than actions. Kit Daniels, a reporter for Infowars elaborates, “…no where in the First Amendment does it state citizens can only petition the government for a redress of grievances if they accept terms and conditions written by the White House.” [4]

Taking down the petition was obviously not the right way to go, they should have let it run its course and responded to it.
Having said that… Baning all flights incomming and departing to Countries with an Ebola infection will not stop it from spreading. If you close down the airports people will try to flee the disease by land and sea. These manners of transportation are very difficult to keep track of, meaning the disease would spread without being noticed. But that is not my main argument against this tactic ; by closing off all contact you are effectively cutting off al humanitarien and medical aid. The disease is spreading rapidly due to a lack of medical knowledge in the infected countries. You are trying to contain the disease, i understand, you are freaking out because of the horrifying symptoms, totally resonable. But this would just make it worse, and panic is not helping either people don’t make their smartest moves while panicking.
If you don’t believe me ask a doctor, not the media.

This is chemical warfare to whip African people off their continent for the resources just like white people always have. Obama wants people to die this is why he had it taken down, have non of you seen this yet. He`s a Muslim who wants to get rid of most Americans so his Muslim brothers can come in and chop people`s heads off who does not convert over to Muslim. There is only one action to be taken and that is to get rid of the Treat to the USA. Then perhaps we can close our boarders if everyone under the Obama Administration was put in Prison. People need to WAKE UP and do what other countries have done and over through the government. Until this happens NOTHING will change.

I disagree completely. We’re not saying that we want to stop people from going INTO the affected region. Those people are going there to give the much needed medical attention and aid that is needed. We want to simple stop any coming OUT of those regions from entering our country, and simply for the time being. It is painfully obvious, that even after contacting the proper authorities regarding a possible contamination, these individuals are still given the ok to fly and land on our grounds. You cannot expect to combat a disease, however small, if you continue to allow it to spread. Keeping it confined, or rather, away from other places, allows for a swifter and more effective treatment plan.
Fuck the government. Just fuck it all.

EBOLA patients should be contained and treated in Africa. We should do what other countries are doing. The CDC is a bunch of quacks who do not know what they are doing, and the long term effects of having EBOLA or being treated for it (like kidney, liver damage) To me allowing these people here, people to roam free, prior to 21 days, coming back from there, is an act of terrorism. The petition should have been acted on before taking it down-this action is a gross violation of our constitution, as with the SAFE ACT in NY State. The time has come to vote big money funded democrats and republicans out of office. Someone needs to find away for common people to campaign online without the use of big money, and get elected in office. Check out HENRY T. TEFFT on Facebook-I am trying to make this a reality.
